Athiest's are some of the most stubborn people. They think they have proof God doesn't exist. Like, how do you have proof of that?

Atheism actually requires blind faith

No. As an atheist I never claim that a god doesn't exist. I simply don't believe in one.

– Gertrude17 2 points 1 year ago +2 / -0

Bullshit. Atheist don't just not believe. Their ultimate goal is to remove God from everything so that everyone thinks like them. They can't just leave things alone. They eventually need everything around them to be void of God. God is the REASON for their neighbors life and they casually dismiss it as a way of thinking? There is nothing more troubling for an Atheist than a theist as they are their COMPLETE opposite. A world without theists is a world where Atheists get to have everyone think like them. Atheists want the world GODLESS. Imagine that horror.

Very much the opposite. I don’t want anyone to be an atheist. I don’t want to talk ANYONE into being an atheist. I have no desire whatsoever to “remove God from everything”.

Being an atheist is HARD. I am NOT looking for your sympathy. I am NOT looking for your direction.

But now, let me be blunt, you can keep what I consider to be your imaginary friend. So long as it provides you comfort I have no problem with it. Get one thing through your head. I AM NOT YOUR ENEMY!!!! If you’re looking for an enemy, go look at the Satanists.

As an atheist, I was blind to the Satanists. I think you are also blind to the Satanists. Look at what Q had to say about Satanists.

u/BakasEverywhere

Does Satan exist?

Does the ‘thought’ of Satan exist?

Who worships Satan?

Please excuse any condescending tone. I just enjoy a chat.

You identify yourself by being the antithesis of someone else's belief.

That is fucked up and I know. I used to be an Atheist.

Atheists are just part of the psyop playing a role like Antifa. See, there's those Opposite Words designed to carefully allow one to play the victim. Anti , A .... hmmmmm... making sense the role you have been conditioned to play? Against the establishment? The counter Culture? Neo-politics? Fighters for Change? Me too? Woman's Lib?

It's an invented word to DIRECTLY undermine believers of God from a seemingly altruistic point of view. Victims of Religion is how we are raised and led to make that our IDENTITY. I am Atheist, a VICTIM OF RELIGION.

But you'll take all the good that was developed through religious societies of course, after all, the fact God was in their minds while they created those things means nothing to you, no value there. They would have invented it themselves in time. Really? in a godless world they would have invented that? In a godless world the Evil that is all around us now vanishes? In a godless world our children are safe? In a godless world we will all live in peace and happiness? And again, don't tell me that's not what you are saying because it is.... by identifying yourself as an A THEIST.

Say the following out loud to yourself and it may shake you up. Say it 10 times and tell me you don't get shivers to your core.

You want a Godless world.

I'm 100% sure you are blind to the path you are on.

Please excuse any condescending tone. I just enjoy a chat.

So you knew that your post would be seen as condescending, but instead of finding a way to express yourself without being condescending, you chose to ask for forgiveness ahead of time, therefore allowing yourself to be insulting. Interesting.

I sincerely doubt that the reason for your posts here is because you "just enjoy a chat".

Atheism is not the antithesis of religion.

Antithesis: a person or thing that is the direct opposite of someone or something else.

theism: belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially belief in one god as creator of the universe, intervening in it and sustaining a personal relation to his creatures.

The prefix "a" means "not" or "without". It doesn't mean against.

So atheism means one who is without a belief in the existence of a god/gods. Not one who is against the belief in the existence of a god/gods.

Are there atheists who are against religion? Sure. But not all are. Do all religious people, Muslims, Hindus, Jews, etc...have all the same opinions or beliefs that you do?

The only thing that all atheists have in common is a lack of a belief in god/gods. There is no handbook listing the do's and do not's of Atheism. There is no list of rules that one must adhere to in order to be considered a "true" atheist.

There is certainly a large percentage of atheists who tend to hold similar opinions about certain topics (e.g. the Big Bang Theory, or evolution, the afterlife, etc...), but that doesn't mean that those opinions are universal or necessary in order to be an atheist.

Anyway, your claims here are proven wrong simply by the very fact that u/solarsavior is an atheist, and has stated quite clearly:

I don’t want anyone to be an atheist. I don’t want to talk ANYONE into being an atheist. I have no desire whatsoever to “remove God from everything”

I am 100% confident that he/she knows what they think better than you do.

Most religions are built on FAITH, although I don't know if every religion is. Mainly because you need FAITH to believe in something you can not see, can not hear (although some might dispute me on that) and can not touch. But belief and FAITH in a God or one God is what people might need to get them through life. I don't have a problem believing in God, some things are just so beautiful they had to be a creation of a Supreme being (at least that is my thought). And that is the way America was founded, the founding father's had a lot of trust in God-but they, other than saying this is a Judeo/Christian nation, did not want to restrict any belief. There is no separation of church and state written anywhere, just that the state should not support, or promote, any one religion over the other(s). So you keep doing what you are doing and I won't try to change you. But also in respect to me, don't (and you haven't) try to change me. We can and will live together as we have been all this time.

There is no separation of church and state written anywhere, just that the state should not support, or promote, any one religion over the other(s).

The Establishment Clause of the 1st Amendment, which is basically what you've stated in your post, is where the concept of the separation of church and state exists.

The exact phrase "separation of church and state" doesn't have to be expressed in order for the intent to exist.

There is a lot of shit opinions about "atheists" on this sub. There are many different types of non-belief, just as there are many different types of beliefs. As a Christian, I am sure that you would not want to be thought of as the same as a Muslim or Hindu, right? Same for us. I'm an atheist, but I am a very different type of atheist than the screaming blue-haired leftists you see all over the internet. I would prefer to not be compared to those "people". We are not the same. Many of us here share a lot of the same ideals regardless of who or what we believe in. For instance, I am very much against abortion, very much pro individualism, liberty, and freedom. I am also quite aware of the fact that the US government is populated with evil people that put their personal gain before their constituency- and something needs to be done about it before it's too far gone. Leave the division to the leftists, we are all here for the same reason (I'm not talking to the agitators and FBI here, they can fuck off).

  • a materialist (nothing but the physical universe)
  • a platonist (logical/conceptual universe alongside the material universe)
  • a universal naturalist. (Non God, non intelligent, creator which is spaceless and timeless.)
  • a diest. (God exists but is impersonal)
  • a theist (God exists and is personal) There is nothing left. If you say you aren't any of them, you are just confused.

If you really think about it. Quite a few Human ideas are illogical past the surface level.

Many of our political ideas for instance. Including one’s whole heartedly embraced today as the ‘Western Standard’. Make quite fundamental assumptions about human nature and human belief. We have never seen pan out as actually functional long term in practice.

I just came of the phone conversing with a beautiful man and a good friend. He is a staunch Christian, I am not. Yet, we find common ground. You wish to know where?

Thumb your bible to 1 John: 4:12 No man saw ever God; if we love together, God dwelleth in us, and the charity of him is perfect in us.

As always: correctness with yourself and others.

Stubborn? illogical? Look in the mirror, frens.

  1. The OP meme has been debunked since ... eh ... where was it:.... Ah, yes .. Dover Schoolboard. And in this case, the shoe was on the other foot. A schoolboard trying to push their views which violate Amendment 1, just as much a schoolboard would push the new age LBTQ+-religious-shit.

BTW: you do know what the Q stands for? Queerulant. :-)

  1. You seem to forget, there are quite a number of atheist on this board, and ... I dare say, if it wasn't for them .... you would not be here. Or do you think the autists on /pol are all .... thumpers like you?

  2. When it comes to making a logical and correct representation of the argument on both sides, you failed. And many Christians fail in that regard, not to mention, many atheists as well. I do not mind, because I comprehend why. Illusions are strong. And it is easier to accept a simple narrative that fits a need, than wrap the head around a complex topic, and to experience your own spirituality, or rather: the divine in you.

Religions are simply that: a system of control where you learn the spiritual experience of people from a long gone age, from a place you would not even want to live in, let alone be found dead in.

Come to think of it: there is a certain commonality between it all. ....Why would that be?

At any rate: enjoy the circle jerk: atheists are illogical.

“” Stubborn? illogical? Look in the mirror, frens.”” Are you buying into the woke mentality that if someone disagrees with a thought process and believes it’s Illogical that they are somehow “Labeling” or attacking You??? That’s a pretty defensive response otherwise…

Atheism is best challenged with the Replication Crisis. It turns empirical reality on its head and plunges fedora tippers into a lonely, epistemologically untethered, existential nightmare. They'll either emerge agnostic or destructively nihilistic. The former can at least be saved, with the latter being contained as far as its capacity to persuade and condemn others.

To really fuck with them bring up AI as a force multiplier in the Replication Crisis. Hundreds of thousands of bad assumptions informing a mind with no physical presence or upbringing. It will turn the scientific epistemology into a thousand monkeys on a thousand typewriters. Accuracy by volume, far from scientific, and completely unreasonable as the basis for a world view.

The problem a real atheist faces, that he must believe in science and pure materialism, because what else can explain him his being and the world around him? That of course is the reason, we find so many atheists in modern society.

But also the believers of abrahamic religions have a problem, as long as they cannot directly interact with the higher powers and the highest. With interacting I mean not just praying and never getting an answer, because God keeps quiet, I mean seeing God and getting answers, as Moses did. And also believing is not the same as knowing. So they rely on their books and its prophecies.

As a Christian I had these problems too. But then, I studied the teachings of the Buddha, and alas everything is clear and I feel like a bird looking down on these selfmade problems of atheists and sacred book religions. Where comes this difference from? They come from the approach: the teachings of Buddha are purely logical, so you look at facts and reason about it. Once understood you have made half your way, the rest is practice to go beyond your mind into realms the mind cannot go, because of its limits.

So if you ask me today, if space and reality are real, I say NO. It is a dream I like to dream, but there is the possibility of escaping my dreams.

When it comes to ethics, buddhism at its core is just about what Christ said too.

We are not a rational species, not at all, just look at the news and you will see this. We can rationalise but that about it.

As for religious faith, its inbuilt. Richard Dawkins took the Persinger god helmet experience and was given a test to measure his religiosity, he had none at all which amazed the testers, they said that's very unusual to have no religious "instinct" at all.

A belief in a god is likely learned from others.

According to Everett, the Pirahã have no concept of a supreme spirit or god;[9] however, they do believe in spirits that can sometimes take on the shape of things in the environment. These spirits can be jaguars, trees, or other visible, tangible things including people.[6]: 112, 134–142

You don't have to insert opinion. Something that is evident to one may not be to another.

This argument shouldn't be from ignorance, rather the argument should be based on established science.

Matter and energy are always conserved. Either something outside of this system (God) inserted the mass and energy, or mass and energy are eternal.

If eternal, energy always flows from higher energy sources to lower, and energy transfer always results in increased entropy. Therefore it is impossible for mass and energy to be eternal without reaching a state of entropy where no energy can be exchanged. This would have occurred somewhere in the infinite past. There is a beginning of this universe where no mass and energy existed.

I Concur… we live in a world where Everything is losing complexity within the components that make it up, which demands that there was a beginning… Their science, not mine… They Theorised a Big Bang where everything came from Nothing in order to address that discovery and response … doesn’t seem wrong to say that’s Illogical !!!

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– PaleMale 1 point 1 year ago +1 / -0

If you press someone on the point of everything from nothing, they usually respond with something about how the big bang doesn't account for the creation of matter. The big bang only explains the distribution of matter.

This is a lame cop out. The beginning of matter must be explained or you don't even have a hypothesis.

Again this is not ignorance concerning the property of matter, it is the understanding of conservation.
