Thank you all for those prayers & love. While we may disagree on some specifics on this board, the unity & love we genuinely have for each other is an amazing blessing to each of us.
UPDATE - My father's surgery went well. Apparently half of his gal bladder was necrotic & had huge stone in him. The surgeon & nurses are good friends with my wife & irrigated/flushed everything out really well. They do not expect any septic complications.
He actually did begin sepsis either the night before, or the day we took him into the hospital. The theory about him still zoning out occasionally is from that, being old, and multiple other medical conditions he has mildly ignored for as long as I have been alive. Old cowboy who just tough it out mindset.
They expect a full recovery, though needed to cut the incisions a littler larger than normal to remove everything correctly, and he cannot walk on his own. As well he cannot lie down flat without incredible pain at this point. The medical staff (along with my wife) agree he should go into a rehab center to help him care for himself for 2-4 weeks so he can get assistance getting into the bathroom & have physical therapists & trained techs to help him get back to beating able to carry his own weight (over 300lbs).
My mother is so emotional because she isn't "strong enough" to help him get into the bathroom, though she laughed when I told her she was the only woman/mother I know who was strong enough to put up with rasing me well enough to stay out of prison & to be so dedicated to raising my children to live with high morals & reject making the same mistakes I made growing up.
He will be in a facility about 35-45 minutes away due to the closer ones all having a bad reputation in the medical community locally. Both in opposite directions, both with a really good track record & patient care reviews.
There is still a long healing process & recovery, though it looks really hopeful now.
Again thank you all so much for your prayers, research (seems statistically myself & my baby bro are likely to have similar issues if we don't make some changes too). I will be putting much of that into practice & seem to have many of the supplements & herbs already from getting ready for possible Covid issues a couple years back.
I love you frogs & truly feel even now that in this community WWG1WGA already.
Again ❤️🤗💗🫂💕 you all!
Praise God for his recovery. Dear Lord, please provide for this beloved Father & Mother as they deal with this health issue. Thank you for all the people you have trained to be ready to assist them now. Guide them to any diet or lifestyle changes that need to be made for his continued recovery. We give you all the glory for your grace & mercy. Strengthen them with your presence, bless them with faith in salvation through Jesus, and fill them with your peace. I ask all this in Jesus' Mighty name, Amen.
God is good ❤️🙏🏼Matthew 18:20
Great news,thanks for posting.
Amen.
Thanks for the update. Wishing all your family well.
Thanks for the update! Awesome (but not surprising) to hear everything went well! Prayers for a speedy recovery 🙏
I was suprised to hear he had already become septic. My wife's family has lost a few members WAY too young (30s-early 60s) from sepsis when they thought their family member was out of the woods. Granted that was with a different hospital system & the turnover there is really high.
I am glad the hospital here everyone is like family. No matter what event I attend with my wife, every person really treats each other like they are just a part of a big old family.
I laughed at an employee appreciation dinner event (where employees are given thanks & recognition via nice dinner & gifts) for being valued employees for 5, 10, 15...50+ years. The newest admin doesn't like hugs, and it was made clear that if someone doesn't reach out for a hug, not to give one because we all respect personal space. The single (newer admin) that wasn't hugging gave in abiut 15 people in & I couldn't help laughing... Awkward silence as I laugh way too loud, and the. The whole room ended up laughing too. That admin ended up going to give the other employees hugs too that they initially missed. The culture down here is just so laid back & filled with genuine care & appreciation for each other, as well as for all of their patients. Sure there is the occasional problem employee there, though they are few & far between from what I hear.
I am truly blessed to live where I do.
That sure sounds like a blessing!
I’m so grateful to hear the great news. God is so good! My only advice is to make sure somebody is at that care Center every day to make sure they’re taking care of him. When my father was in a care home I would go in the middle of the night and just sit there on my phone, because I knew nighttime is the time they would be most neglectful
Not to scare you or anything, but my neighbor, who is in a care home after her abdominal surgery… She kept having pain and they were giving her Tums, but it turned out. She was having kidney failure. She got to the hospital in time to stay for a week, but after that, she decided she wanted to come home because she didn’t want to stay in one of those hospitals. The people running them are not the sharpest tools in the shed, because people are elderly, I don’t think they’re main objectives is the keeping them alive.
I don’t mean to be a doomer. I’m just saying… someone needs to be physically in that hospital with your dad every day to make sure his needs are getting met. Even if it’s just for one or two hours a day. The staff will notice that, and step up because they know you’re gonna show up and they don’t know when.
Prayers going up for your dad!
That’s not dooming. Even prior to the last four years that was a very good idea to do if it was at all possible. Not everyone can do it, but if someone can, they should.
Ask around at church if necessary.
This is a great idea. Thank you! This seems to be the reason we were given a few locations so far away. There are over a dozen facilities closer to his home & my home, though they all suffer from this specific issue according to knowledge within the staff at the local hospital.
It also seems to be a problem from the top down in those facilities likely focusing on faster profits vs true care.
Tough old cowboy? Known a few. Praying he makes it. His breed is rare these days.
Thank you for the update. I will continue praying for your family during this recovery time.
Thank you for the update. Prayers continue, bless you all.
😎
Thank you for the update. It sounds like your father is in very good hands. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks be to God, as my sainted mother used to say.
Prayers up for your father.
Amen. I love a great and uplifting story first thing in the morning. God is great.

Do you know what the most bio available form or college happens to be?
My mother just told me she is taking it so she can move around better.
I should really start reading those papers to figure this stuff out :D
edit - I really need to start commenting back after looking at context.
The most bioavailable form of collagen is hydrolyzed collagen, also known as collagen peptides. BPC-157 Body Protection Compound-157 is another peptide that would provide a more clinical difference though or taken alonside collegen peptides. These both have roughly 95% bioavailability.
Collagen's Clinical Mechanism for Joint Healing
Cartilage Repair and Maintenance
Reduction of Inflammation
Enhanced Tissue Regeneration
Increased Synthesis of Extracellular Matrix Components
BPC-157's Mechanism and Why It May Be Useful for Joint Healing
BPC-157 is a peptide with powerful regenerative and healing properties, and its potential use in joint healing is supported by several mechanisms:
Angiogenesis (Formation of New Blood Vessels)
Accelerated Collagen Synthesis
Anti-Inflammatory Effects
Protection and Healing of Tendons and Ligaments
Joint Capsule Integrity and Synovial Fluid Production
If I were her I would take the following:
Hydrolyzed Collagen Powder: https://a.co/d/7GuWKty
BPC 157 https://a.co/d/2kShpXk
Nano- Curcumin https://a.co/d/3uYE7Pw
