This is why sometimes I get frustrated with God. I know I said bad things in my youth and thought some pretty "nonpolitically correct things" but as I've gotten older I've come to reassess my thoughts. I'm living a better life and am not the same person I was in the past. Yet I'll have to answer for those things I thought and said even though I've changed. Once you turn your life over to Christ shouldn't you get a "start over" card? Plus I've heard that once you get to the Pearly Gates and are facing God, Jesus steps in and acts as your intercessor and He will say to God, "This is a child of mind, he has been cleansed with my blood and he should be allowed to walk into Heaven"....or something like that. What say you religious individuals who study these types of things?

Although we will be held accountable for our words, actions, and inactions that's not to say we will be held in Judgment for them. If we hold a repentative heart, actively try to better ourselves, improve our interactions with others, and ask for forgiveness when we do mess up while trying to make it right, that will act as a weight on the balance scales tipping them into our favor. I believe you're right in saying it's like a court with Jesus acting on our behalf.

I hope my response was on point with your question, I could expand on this if there's something you feel I may have not covered as I wanted to give you a timely answer and wasn't prepared for such a theological question this early. I appreciate you and your inquiry fren.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:13-14

Maybe it's the borax talking, but I feel like we are slowly managing to turn things around.

When I feel like things aren't getting better the LORD often sends me an unexpected sign that gives me hope again. It seems to be a prevailing theme throughout the Bible and I don't think thats coincidental.

I asked for salvation at a very young age, then went … not wildly astray but definitely off the straight and narrow in my young adulthood.

There are verses such as Hebrews 10:26 that say that “if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins”, but then also verses about how “for we all like sheep have gone astray”, and also the fact that there have been plenty of chances to go ahead and remove me from the game board where his miraculous grace has brought me through.

At the end of the day, I’m weak and flawed, and can only plead the blood. It took a long time, but Progress is finally being made. Hopefully.

Here’s a funny one, being surrounded by your enemies can feel like you’ve come up under a curse - as if you’ve been cut off from your people as a result of your sins, and maybe that’s so, but… it also allows for a table to be prepared in the midst of your enemies. Halleluyah!

I thank you for sharing a bit of your story fren. I shared a similar trajectory on my path and have found myself back where I started but with alot more knowledge and understanding, funny how that beginning to the end works.

Well scripture does indicate that when God forgives He forgets. https://www.gotquestions.org/does-God-forget.html

This verse is speaking of The Great White Throne Judgment. Believers will not be a part of this judgment. We will appear before The Judgment Seat of Christ, also known as the Bema Seat Judgment.

Future Judgment of the Believer

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus

Redemption is real. Jesus says so and He does not lie. Thank you, my beloved Lord.

Taking the Lord's name in Vain is asking Him to do something that you know is wrong. Its literally Vanity...

Like Saying God Damn It! When you are mad

You can train yourself to say Gosh Darn it! After a while, it gives the same stress relief as the former.

I'm not an angel myself, we are works in progress. Jesus intercedes for us on Judgment Day, otherwise everyone is Hell Worthy.

I never used that phrase very often, but it literally is saying “May God condemn it!”

There may be a place for that, but extremely judicious use is called for.

I was going to add that it’s also not “taking the lord’s name in vain”, but CanadianPede added a great contextual push.

I personally have a take on it that’s further than that, but will not discuss it publicly.

I agree, I had this problem early in my personal life and it does take time to train yourself. I now use phrases like "My goodness" or "God Bless" instead and It's been quite rewarding for my life.

Taking the Lord's name in vain is not simply saying gosh dammit. The churches have promoted this without deep thought. If you look at the original language it would be better interpreted as claiming to do something in God's name but really for your own reasons and leading someone astray.

I've always felt that taking the Lord's name in vain was swearing, regardless how I said it because the key was intent.

However, in my studies since Q, I've come to believe the phrase is meant literally. As in, if I do something good, I should give credit to Him. All good comes from God, I am but His hands and feet. I should not be vain and take credit in my name.

And don't misunderstand swearing isn't good either. JMO

Since we are on the topic of the Lord's name I would like to point out that His name is not "Lord," or "God." It is YHWH, YeHoWaH, Jehovah.

I spent my entire life working on job sites and in shops, I was once in the same place with my words and in honesty the old man still comes out on occasion. For me, having children and rewiring my word usage because of them took time but became easier every day I was actively trying.
