TLDR: This cut the aura time from one hour to about 20 minutes. The sun thing made it go away, right away
Visual / ocular migrane for those who don't know is a visual disturbance that seems to happen wherever you're trying to read or look. Sometimes it's a scintillating snake or glob that looks like broken window pane...or sometimes its' just a dark area, you're looking right at something but you can't see it because it's just darkened.
Fix
First of all it was like 7:50am EST here and the sun was just over the mountains so it's like 5% over the horizon and just beyond the "red" phase to the "orange" phase.
Probably not a good idea to stare into the sun at high noon or 3pm or something (straight above)
That being said, people have to drive from east to west all the time and get that morning sun in their eyes, and also reflected from the rear window of mostly german made coup type cars (SO ANNOYING)
My point is its not as bad as people say to look at the sun, but I'm not about to go full on sunstaring.
I've stared into the sun during red phase (right at dawn) for 5 min before with no bad consequences. No they didn't cause my ocular migranes, I've had them my entire life.
They don't always coincide with headache and vertigo/nausea. Today they didn't at all. But usually last about an hour for me. This time it was gone in 20 min.
Amazing.
I'm hoping an opthalmologist or neurologist pede reads this and comes up with a clinical trial, because this could be a new form of treatment.
Hypernutrimia, a lack of salt intake, can cause headaches. Eat some Himalayan salt and the headaches might go away.
Low sodium level is called hyponatraemia. High levels is called hypernatremia.
My dad died in large part with Alzheimer’s due to lack of fluid intake causing hypernatremia. This caused the brain to function incorrectly as well as certain organs to begin to fail.
Low sodium is also very bad. Sodium allows proper electrical conduction. The body is made of atoms which are electrical. Brain functions on electrical impulses. Thought is electrical impulses.
Try eating carnivore instead. Salt and meat eggs dairy seafood. Bada boom quick easy filling nutrition.
Just searched light therapy for migraines. There are places like Mayo Clinic that have info and treatment on this. I see green light therapy.
I was wondering what the fuck that flappy-bird shadow was that appears randomly in my view. Thanks, next time I'll try the sun trick.
I get the same blinding migraines from eye strain. I drink fruit juice to make it go away, which is 100% effective every time. I'd recommend doing that instead of looking at the sun. You don't know what long term risks can come with that. Even if you don't feel any retinal damage, you don't know it's not happening.
UPDATE: OH WOW
it's like a fluid now, in the lower right corner, meandering like waves of the ocean....I still see it but it's not as distracting as the full aura and I can still read and see through it.
This is wild!
It's like an overlay on top of my view, something I'd normally see when falling asleep in the dark with my eyes closed
What you are describing is eye strain. If you get it bad, it become harder and harder to see till you are essentially blind for about 20 minutes.
Regular “light treatment” sun or red light fixes all manner of eye issues. More clinical trials needed. I am currently weening myself off contacts gradually using this method. Getting closer to perfect vision and required reading glasses strength is gradually dropping.
Unconfirmed reports of red light therapy fixing glaucoma and cataracts. Accidental discovery when someone was using it for more typical healing and didn’t wear “eye protection”. It apparently works through closed eyelids.
Eat the Sun I thought it was a comedy by the end....
Migraine relief? Just rub one out. Simultaneously staring at the sun optional. Neighbors may scream...😁😁😁
Interesting take--sunlight therapy is a real thing.
Did you know there are people who "sun gaze" at dawn and dusk as a practice, and claim it does amazing things for all sorts of health issues? Look it up, you'll find a lot of stuff on it...though go very carefully with your own practice.
The idea is that the sun, being an electrical phenomenon/body, can shoot its healing rays (Birkeland currents) into the eyeballs (which evolved, after all, to admit and process sunlight!)...just as it nourishes every part of our bodies through the skin.
If I remember correctly it was an Ayurvedic practice, which some of those practitioners did claiming that it nourished them to the point they didn't need food.
Edit: forgot to add I've had ocular migraines on and off back to my 20s. They say that the "buzzsaw" looking thing, the jaggedy vibrating one, is us actually "seeing" our optic nerve, but I'm not sure how true that is.
Thanks for this great thread!
I love staring at the rising sun. Reminds me of the Eucharist :)
that is so fitting 😅
Have a gander into sun gazing ;)
In this interview, which is a must watch as far as I'm concerned, Dr. Jack Kruse talked about an older friend who used his red light machine to speed up bone rengeneration after breaking a bone. He didn't wear the goggles that are recommended to be worn while using the machine (over the corse of a few weeks) and surprise, his macular degeneration was completely eliminated.
Again, as discussed about a week ago, here on GAW, this video is an absolute must listen to. Over four hours but you will be glued to it. I'm currently listening to it for the second time because there's just so much to take in.
