Meh. What makes me scratch my head about any EV is the sheer cost of the power. I heard that it took about $40 to fill up the battery at a fast charge station and then the car only went 250-300 miles and another $40 had to go into the "tank". Then the cost of the vehicle itself is over my ability to pay. The cars are very quick off the line, probably have a good ride, and seem nice, but not at that kind of pocket book lightening. But if folks want to purchase on and deal with the financial aggrivations, good for them. It's just not my cup of tea.

Bigger battery, bigger fire?

IF, and big IF I ever had a Tesla…I would have a .22 actuated tool in my rig so I can break the windows if ever a fire happened

Don't forget, all electric vehicles have an inside manual handle to open the front doors. Some have front and back. Too many people don't read their owner's manuals.

Gen 2 prius have the same issue. If the 12v battery dies the rear hatch WILL NOT OPEN!! Ask me how I know. Grrrrrrrrr. Where is the 12v battery located????? In the hatch area.

I have window breakers in all my vehicles. EDC a knife will cut the seat belts. Don’t forget every car/truck with a headrest has a built in window breaker. Take out headrest - bash window with metal prongs. And remember kids don’t forget to check the oil😂

Good information to know, Buuuuuuuuttttttttttt.......when you are in a stressful situation, like driving into a lake and you might be injured, will you have the ability to remember the EDC stuff or will you even be able to use it? Yea, I know it's probably a very few vehicles each year that plunge into a situation where immediate extraction is necessary, but those young tweenies who are saving the world by purchasing an EV will not have the mindset to utilize the tools you have laid out. Heck, they will probably drown asking "where is the remote to open the door?"

Tesla model 3 did not have them in the back. The back door can easily jam on all cars if the door is slammed too hard. Traffic accident anyone?

I think this is a shitty safety issue to have with a car. One of those things to think about and check when buying a car.

EV idiocy: The cost of the car, the cost of replacing the battery, the cost of replacing the tires, the effect of heavier tires on roads, the environmental effects of the disposal of a car-sized battery, spontaneous combustion of the car, lack of charging stations, limited mobility… but we’re saving the planet!?

It’s that battery weight that makes these things death machines. I hear the Tesla’s have aluminum framing…needs steel. The good stuff. These electric vehicles lower the survival rate by alot in accidents. Insurance companies will target them eventually. Total damage between life and vehicle is to high.

I probably have another 5 fertile years left max. I have 2 little ones and really wish I could have another 1-2 so I can do my part to repopulate the West. I just wish our society was better set up to accommodate families with small children. I really feel like part of the MAGA agenda should emphasize more support in that area, especially for those of us who would love to have bigger families but don’t have a village.

We have good jobs and can afford kids, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t extremely challenging. I’m not hoping for freebies or anything like that, but just some way to make the costs of children more manageable. It costs us around $1800/mo to have them in a very basic, no-frills daycare. And even with my “good” health insurance, it still cost me $14k out-of-pocket for each of my deliveries. Also bigger cars and homes to accommodate bigger families= more money.

I feel like we have so many resources for low-income families to support their kids, but nothing for the middle class. If we were poor, we’d get free daycare and free pre-K, free groceries, etc. But it’s the middle/working class who get royally fucked over. I know so many people my age who are college-educated, stable, productive members of society that want families but genuinely don’t feel like they can afford it. That needs to change if we want a population boom.

The price of these vehicles has to come way down.

The electric vehicle appeal, to me, is completely cost based. I don't feel like paying for gas anymore. It's not the environment or climate change or anything else.

It's pure economics. I have never bought a new car. Right now i drive a 2010 Wrangler. I can afford to pay for gas because I'm not paying $700 a month for a car payment+insurance.

So pricing a Tesla at 60 or 70k just isn't doing it for me-at all.

What we need is a 25k or less HYBRID. {100% electric is just not trustworthy imo}

Yup I would love a cheaper hybrid. Electric to do my day to day tasks. Gas for traveling.

As EV's get larger they need more batteries to move the weight and soon will be aproaching if not exceeding commercial vehicle weight. Some of the Teslas on the road today weigh as much as an uloaded full size pickup truck.

It's cool to want to drive that innovation and make bigger vehicles, tougher trucks. On the other side of that is what that means when millions of vehicles are multiple tons heavier than they were a decade ago.

Some states tie registration to GVWR but I don't think that would offset even more wear and tear on road infrastructure than there already is. I'm all for daily driving a tank but hopefully this trend can innovate infrastructure as well.

Weight... lol that is why the cyber truck frame is aluminum is to support the facade of the truck.

Make sense now. Watch "Whistling Diesel" tear down of an F150 and a Cyberthing.

Not bigger, but you can buy a second and put it in the new "follow Daddy" mode, add up to 7.

love big vehicles. And we were just talking about Elon making RVs, thought I read it somewhere...

from a mom/practical point of view, I'd say Promaster or Transit Wagon AWD over a Tahoe. make something to stand up in, get families camping again🌳🔥
