WASHINGTON — Today, Speaker Johnson announced that flags at the U.S. Capitol will fly at full-staff on January 20, 2025. The flags were ordered to be at half-staff for the 30 days following President Jimmy Carter’s passing.
“On January 20th, the flags at the Capitol will fly at full-staff to celebrate our country coming together behind the inauguration of our 47th President, Donald Trump. The flags will be lowered back to half-staff the following day to continue honoring President Jimmy Carter.”

Long story short - the 21 gun salute that Biden received was meant for a foreign dignitary or a funeral service, not the traditional salute that is given for a presidential salutation. Years ago I had my cartilage pierced and it just so happened to be on MLK day. Back in 2019 or 2020, I started to wear a rhinestone Q in that ear. Recently I bought a set of plus sign tiny earrings and I was gonna get the other cartilage pierced for it. Now I'll wait until inauguration day.

Two weeks? I was wondering myself why some places still had flags at half staff today. Most already went back to full by last Friday or never even did the half-mast thing.
