Not sure if this is a good thing or not. I understand that free speech was a concern here (despite TikTok heavily censoring everything), I thought TikTok was bad for two reasons (maybe there's more but those two reasons is all I can think of):
It is a Chinese spyware app that has been spying on everyone who uses TikTok and reporting back to whoever in China? IIRC, President Trump said he wanted TikTok banned because of its connections to Tencent having a holding in TikTok and because of the spying. He was supposed to have TikTok banned during his 2nd term but then Bidet "won".
It's a garbage app that has been poisoning the youth's mind, forcing them to do idiotic things and when TikTok got banned, there were reports of teens and children (?!) calling 911 about the TikTok ban. Seriously?! Why waste a very important resource just to let them know you're crying about TikTok, a pointless app?!
I don't see how saving TikTok is a good thing when it clearly is a problem for the younger audience...
Will TikTok unban my account then? Or is free speech allowed for some and not for all?
Free speech was DEFINITELY never allowed on TIkTok. It's wild you think it ever was. And I don't mean that flippantly. It has literally changed language in some ways. I've heard a ton of conservative/MAGA folks on there use the 'unalive, grape, corn' etc filter words so they don't get banned, and that has made it over to other platforms now, and real life conversations. It's wild how many people bent that knee for a few (or maybe more than a few) dollars.
We need to take our language back from these shitbags who think it's okay to censor us.
Maybe they think that TikTok being unbanned is "double plusgood."
I hate TikTok and refused to allow it on my daughter's phone (even though TikTok here in Japan is pretty benign). Nevertheless, I don't want to see Biden ban the app.
This is what I don't get. DJT was the first to blow the whistle to the masses about it being a Chinese spying program in 2020. All three branches of government, Congress, SCOTUS, Exec went forward with the ban. It was blocked for less than 24 hours, and now it's back. That's... fuckin' fishy.
TikTok is moonbat central in the USA. There are some based people on there. I don't know how big of a security risk it is, but I won't allow it on my daughter's phone. AFAIK, it's pretty benign here in Japan as people here don't go out of their way to broadcast degeneracy. I don't like seeing it banned, but maybe threatening them with a ban lest they cut the crap is a smart move. Maybe Trump has a proposal to keep it alive, minus the data farming?

Well, I didn't like it either and never used it but when the IDF started putting their evil vids of shooting women and children on it then I could understand it was really useful in that quirky evidential way.
