when the music screwed up, I told my wife "do it a cappella" - then a few minutes later - she did AND asked the audience to join in. awesome.
Same, I was like, just sing it girl! I know she can sing because of America Idol. I remember the clips. I thought it went well.
There was a Airforce guy there coordinating the entire thing. He eventually ordered her to go ahead and start. Yoy can see him motioning her and her nervously starting abruptly.
But theb she delivered a hell of a show damn!

A lovely couple and their two children just came by the house that I’m sitting at. They rang the doorbell, and they were selling Girl Scout cookies. They all had on their American flag gear. Very happy about the inauguration today. 🫡🇺🇸🐸 And I got Girl Scout cookies and I didn’t even have to go anywhere. God just keeps on giving today. 👏👏👏

I loved that Carrie sang "a capella" because it enticed the deep state players in the room to sing along... The Biden/Harris/Clintons looked like total dumbasses mouthing the words! I remember they missed some lyrics, and sort of mouth mumbled as it went.
Sorry to hear that y'all seem concerned and deflated about the performance! I thought it was amazing that Carrie stayed on pitch, and I would have loved to be present in the room to experience the acoustics. I felt that it was a perfect performance given the circumstances. The show must go on!

Some people have higher standards than yours. That was a mess compared to what America grew up with. She was just alright. There shouldn't have been a tape at all with that orchestra. The fact she had to be told to sing a capella after that long delay was sad.
Especially with the musicians available at that event. A couple of rehearsals would have made a difference. That tape thing was a disgrace. The Military Choir should have sung that tune. They were amazing on fire. Everything thing after Trump spoke was low energy. Some people are gonna eat anything thrown at them with no questions. They get angry when you don't eat from the trough of mediocrity. Our President is worthy of excellence

The canned music failed. That seems to happen a lot with canned music. Live music would have been more suitable.

Not with the correct sheet music. Many, if not most, groups that play strict arrangements can't improvise to play anything but what's in front of them. In other words, they can't play by ear.
