I started off having some sympathy for some fed workers. Would suck to be unemployed in the wake of Bidenomics and moving from the public sector to the private sector is notoriously difficult.
But the more they run their mouths, the less I care. Stupid should hurt and it's about time it did.
I used to work in a technical position for a large engineering contractor to the Dept. of Energy. Our contracts ran anywhere from 3 to 7 years, and we could always anticipate the end of the contract, being laid off, often being rehired by the same contractor for the next contractual period OR going to work for another contractor who had different contracts with DOE.
It was just the nature of the business, and we didn't take it personally. But working under such conditions, we all knew that we had to perform our jobs well. We weren't necessarily beholden to DOE, because most of those folks didn't even know what THEY were doing half the time; our affiliation was more toward our contracting company, which I decline to name here.
I was glad to have those jobs... they paid off my house mortgage, car loans, and allowed me and my wife to go on some very nice vacations over the years. And I retired fairly well from them, so I have no complaints.
It's interesting to observe that the federal "workers" think they have a right to those jobs in perpetuity, and with no accountability. That's the difference between the private sector and government.
Pretty much the same here. I made a lot of equipment for ships and always made a high percent profit as much as 200% and I was the LOW BID!! I stopped bidding in the 90s because during clinton Minorities would beat every bid even if not the Lowest. Wonder if POTUS will fix that?
wasn't there a big push against "lowest Bidder" contracts in the 80s/90s? I seem to recall that there were a lot of jokes made about the quality of products from "the lowest bidder" floating around at the time.
Oh, sure. I meant in general, but valid amendment.
If government is able to select lowest -cost suppliers from foreign countries and get whatever they’re looking for from there, “prevailing wage” would be within the scope of that country, yes? I don’t know if they’re required to contract with only domestic providers or not, but don’t think they have to.
That is basically what the public does when we buy from Walmart, to a variable extent, or businesses when they look for solutions outside the country solely to cut costs. (I do understand both of those are more complicated than that, hence “variable extent”.)
If/when government does that, though, they should likely have full responsibility for it.
Yes but that was because at first they just introduced Minority Bidders but within about Three Years you learned you were just a number for them to bid against.
Did government workers care about those being fired for refusing to take the Covid shot mandated in private industry? No, they relished our pain. So to all of you I say a big, “TOO BAD”. You are finally being held accountable: for your work at home demands while holding another job or for watching The View while you should have been working, for watching porn or shoe shopping while you should have been working, for putting in 2 hours work (if even that) while being paid for 8. You are well paid too, with good benefits i assume.
I, and many of us, have been talking about how these people are living completely at our expense, and without us even wanting them to be doing what they’re doing.
Suggestions of “how about this sort of a compromise, or oversight, or change in funding methods” have been met with nothing but insults, or ignored entirely.
Now they complain? Now they’re in fear? They mocked us.
I hate to be sore about this, considering myself a patient and forgiving person, but if these people don’t humble themselves make some serious amends, they can … … do bad things to themselves.
HEY DEEP STATE, PART OF ASKING FORGIVENESS IS MAKING AMENDS. GO BUY A BIBLE AND READ UP ON SCRIPTURE FOR GUIDELINES ON HOW TO DO THAT.
What President Trumps team is doing is exactly what we voted for and these scum think they can gaslight us into thinking its not what we wanted? Hahaha these people are so dumb, so despearate. The panic is off the charts and we havent even gotten to the really bad parts like the child trafficking networks, the vax bioweapon, the election fraud and the DoD dark money.
I can imagine the discussions. Maybe something like "who is the president to tell us what to do and how to do it? They change all the time, they have no idea about our work!". :D
I am forming the opinion, in light of recent events, that the vast majority of federal employees will be replaced by AI. I believe this will happen within the next four years.
President Trump killed Biden's EO limiting AI and Elon Musk has plans of increasing his AI system by at least 8-fold over the next six months, while also advocating replacing the government's antiquated computer system.
Technology replaces bureaucracy. The writing is on the wall.
I can’t wait to see DOGE in My department.
Professional success is a given for me, regardless of where I work. I just worry they’ll keep too many over-promoted managers. If that happens, I’ll really regret passing on the 8 months severance.

They claim best value, technical and cost. It is usually cost. And a lot bid under their cost to get the contract and then make it up later.
I've seen a lot of below cost bids only to make it up, and then some, with change orders.
Exactly.
Most had change orders and in triplicate and always a meeting and inspections out the YingYang
The lowest cost bid is always slave labor, with reasonable management oversight costs.
Relevant moving forward: https://www.openbible.info/topics/working_for_fair_pay
Those who insist on paying slave wages, will eventually become slaves.
Most govt contracts require the contractor pay Prevailing Wage.
So, the bidder will grossly underbid the materials portion because of the inflated personnel costs.
But change orders still make up for it.

better/worse than no-bid?
just curious.
Yes but that was because at first they just introduced Minority Bidders but within about Three Years you learned you were just a number for them to bid against.
The 200% profit margin ?
Ask Boeing about the cost of the New AF 1.
Part of the problem ? Or part of the solution ?
You actually could not bid too low or they just through you out. You had to be the Middle three and then it was like Ranked Choice Voting.
So you bid high enough to allow them their 10% to be worthwhile ?

And now you do more Planning & saving in preparation for the future. (1950 was the result of 1929 thinking)

IT is time Federal workers joined the real world.
Show up, do your job, obey the rules.

I can't feel bad.
Sounds like they need a safe place. May I suggest to them to just stay home?
...."at having to do what We The People say." There, I fixed it.
