I’m “lucky” in that I’m a 100% disabled combat vet, so a state law already says I don’t pay property taxes in FL.
You wouldn’t know it from my mortgage payment, since my insurance rate has risen steadily 300% since I bought the house in 2019, and made nothing but positive, safe changes to the house since then. Never made a single claim either.
The homeowner’s insurance in Florida is ridiculous.
I’d much rather they fix the insurance problem. They think they can replace it with a tourism tax but that means the state controls how the money is distributed
In Sonoma County CA we had a big fight over that a number of years back, because the California Constitution says that the oceans must be free. We won for the time being.
If you look at what makes up a property tax, a portion goes to the city for municipal services of person goes to the county for County services. A person goes to the school district. I understand that there are some fees that probably need to be paid and if they don’t come out of your property taxes, they’re gonna come out somewhere else. What is irritating is that they are not really a property tax they are a luxury tax because the higher the cost of your property the more your tax. If it’s going be a fee to the city and county on the services they provide to your property it should be proportional to how your property affects the services, not the value of your property. In other words. If I have 12 bathrooms, I should pay more than the guy that has two bathrooms. Right now in my county I can find you 2 4-bedroom two bathroom houses, one list for $180,000 the other list for $900,000. They both impact the city and county services the same way but I’ll guarantee you one pays a hell of a lot more taxes.
It's all going to bloated teacher pensions in my area. That portion of my tax bill is well north of 8K, it's sickening. (Old house under 2500sqft and not much either, around the average house nowdays). Reform the teacher pensions.
I was thinking the same thing. I know many people who call the city/county for fixing cracks in the sidewalk and changing light "bulbs" in the streetlights. Who pays for plowing your street in the winter, maintains potholes? If it's not property taxes, it's something else. I know we pay additional tax per gallon of gas to maintain roads (supposedly) but when the funds run out, they stop work until the next budget.
I live in a condo, so I am paying for this through HOA on top of property taxes.
Short term rentals are becoming a big issue in many areas but I think the bubble on Airbnb is going to pop soon. They're a huge hassle on both ends and too many people bought into it. In my area they're trying to slow it down by adding a 12% tax. I hope it helps because the condo building next door is probably 80% vacation rentals. It's also inflating home prices. Remember when you could buy a condo for less than $100k? Now anything bigger than a hotel room is at least $300. Yeah, don't get me started ...
I agree. Plus someone from another state is “we buy any house “ please find out who. If it keeps up PA will be owned by someone else and not the residents here
Meanwhile in Singapore: I OWN my LEASEHOLD property 🤡🤡🤡
(Leasehold is a British term where the government owns the land and "sells" you the right to live on it for 99 years, after which they can repo it without paying or owing you anything)
And if you miss a 200 doller payment they can and will steal your land.
Such a Criminal racket! 🤬
They built up this bullshit slowly over many years.
Now we have to be laser focused and call them out on everything.
Absolutely!
It's not criminal if it's the government, they're literally the ones who decide what's criminal lmao.
Oh, the irony...🤬
Who is the government? It doesn't have a life of its own. Its people. Just like soylent green.

Hopefully they will tackle the Insurance Industry next.
God bless your Service AFL! 🫡🇺🇲❤️
Thanks for your support.
It was a great job.
When it wasn’t terrifying, heartbreaking, or enraging.
👏🙏🤍

My monthly payments went up >$400/month b/c of insurance/taxes!!!
No wonder 1 in 8 Florida homeowners have no insurance
In the same boat. Maybe the VA loan system ought to have a reasonable insurance offered.
Get rid of Beach Parking Fees',have to pay to enjoy the FUCKIN OCEAN for fuck sake, yeah i'm pissed,UNMARICAN UNCONSTITUTIONAL

I just updated my W-4 to "Exempt". No longer will I comply and have my money stolen and used for murder and human trafficking.

Absolutely and the Assessors who Evaluate our property sometimes don't even drive by, they use Google Earth
The counties amd cities need to find a different way to fund services. Period. If theybarent clever enough they shouldn't be in charge.

Pot holes lol
YES!! 💥
Yes DOGE every county/town/city/state!!!

This needs to happen everywhere. We are basically serfs, renting our land from the state. Purchasing it but then paying rent to stay in our own homes.
Exactly!
Let's go Florida!!! Next bring down our Home/Auto insurance rates! Is Nesara/Gesara coming?
It sure feels like a storm is brewing.

Great News!
Florida land would go through the roof. It's land becomes an investment. You own something nobody can take away.
That is wonderful for people in Florida. Can someone please find out who is buying all the houses in Pennsylvanian to rent back out

Chinese? Soros?
It ain't me. I live in PA, and our property tax keeps getting jacked up every year. Mr. Musk, please do an audit?

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This is amazing, good news.
He just picked up VOTES and probably a win for his wife, who will be running for Governor…..
Yes...and POTUS is supporting Byron Donald's..

The Criminals run everything..but not for long! NCSWIC. NOTHING.
WOW...what a concept! ie: lowering or ENDING PROPERTY TAXES
... is this a dream? 😱 😱 😱
I believe it will happen in every state! 🙏
Only should apply to first home, otherwise this makes home ownership even more out of reach for the common man.
that's great news for blackrock
As long as when you kill it, you don't leave the door open for the pigs to slap a state income tax on us
Get that through the heads of the idiots we somehow elect to local county government. Gravy train is over fellas.
