What they don't understand now vs say 10 years ago (for arguements sake) is that the majority are not asleep anymore. We just have the loudest to contend with. But once we become the loudest... game over.
In the wake of all the winning, and the prior cases of Smollett and Bubba Wallace and others, evidence is needed before accepting claims on this sort of thing.
Given how far away the next presidential election is, I'm very skeptical this has anything to do with raising his profile in that regard.
If it's a setup, it would be much more likely that it's related to something happening in Pennsylvania politics right now, though I don't know what that would be.
Shapiro is trouble though. He's one of the only bright spots on the Dem bench right now and unlike Tim Walz, Shapiro is capable of forming full sentences and isn't prone to putting his foot in his mouth. He's a pretty savvy politician, unfortunately.
Of course, there's a serious anti-semitism streak among Dem voters right now, but as you guys know, there's no direction Dem voters can't be pushed in given enough time. Shapiro could hold a press conference, shapeshift into a reptilian, profess that his duty for the reptilian empire is to enslave the United States of America. My guess is that with a full court press from Dem pols/pundits and the media, it would take about 6 months to have Dem voters shouting "All hail our new reptilian overlords".

With Newsome imploding out in California, I would not be shocked if Shapiro gets the nomination in 2028.
