Why do people believe so strongly in Jesus when the Old Testament came out 400 years before the NT? Like if the bible was just the OT at first and then 400 years later someone comes out with a part 2 with a new superhero, all of humanity is now just expected to believe this and accept Jesus as God when Jesus wasn't in the original bible at all? Some people think The Book of Mormon is the 3rd book of the bible. Is that true? Do you see the problem. Anyone can just claim they have the latest info whenever. This is why I view God only in abstract. The NT feels like bs to me.
Jesus put his stamp throughout the Hebrew OT. It's the name of God that is never translated (Aleph Tav). Also, the OT paints a picture of who Jesus will be when he comes. But the nation was expecting a God who would be a national / military leader, not a sacrifice for sin. Yet the OT reveals the need and requirement for a once for all sacrifice for sin. The NT reveals this God who has always loved humanity, but has been so far removed from God that they don't see their need for God. God made it easy for people to come to him, but men (and women) and religion made it difficult by adding rules and regulations and many distractions.
Anyone who wanted to create a believable NT would absolutely need to be intimately familiar with the OT inside and out. The NT is about fulfilling prophecies of the OT, and, making claims of future prophecies. Claims that would come true in Josephus's War of the Jews. The only historian who covered Israel during the Siege of Jerusalem (70 AD).
The point of concern is if Josephus's historic account of the time period, which Biblical Scholars swear by and have for centuries+, was written alongside the Gospels. Thereby making the prophecies appear omniscient only after the fact.
Good question, but the answer is that the Bible holds the promise of salvation for all. The story begins with Adam and Eve sinning in the Garden of Eden. They are banished, but they are promised salvation for mankind. Fast forward years and years, we get Jesus who comes down to live among us and act as a sacrifice for our sins. His entire life was prophetic as the prophets of the old testament wrote scripture which Jesus eventually fulfilled.
The truth is that Jesus is the son of the living God, and he is not just a superhero. He came down from heaven to take that blame for all our sins and was nailed to a cross in order to fulfill prophecies regarding his death. This is seen in Jewish Passover rituals where they kill a lamb without blemish. Guess who is the Lamb of God? Jesus that's who. All you have to do is sincerely ask Jesus to save you from your sins. From that point forward, you will become a new person. Study that bible because it presents the plan of salvation for mankind.
Just so you know, the Mormon religion is just that, a religion.
The Jews in Jesus time and going back to Adam and Eve, in the OLD TESTAMENT were under the LAW. This required a BLOOD Sacrifice. This law was corrupted. When Jesus went to the temple, the moneychangers were called out because they were corrupting the LAW. This is the only time we see Jesus angry by driving them out of the temple. “And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves
“It is written,” he said to them, “’My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”
AND THE BLIND AND THE LAME CAME TO HIM IN THE TEMPLE AND HE HEALED THEM.
The Old Testament - LAW - showed that just the Jews (Gods people) were under the Law, but the second that Christ died FOR EVERYONE’S SINS, the temple's curtain was rent from top to bottom, symbolic that no longer were the Gentiles outside of God's family . One is important. What was behind that curtain? The Ark Of The Covenant. The symbol of God Himself was residing with ‘His People’. The rent curtain - the laws, the sacrifices, the obligations etc. that the Jews had to keep daily, had been replaced by GRACE as shown in the NEW TESTAMENT. Because the blood sacrifice of Christ provided a way for ALL to be part of Gods family. The WORLD is now under Gods GRACE.
Probably one of the most quoted Bible verses is John 3:16 tells us this., "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
And in Ephesians 3:8. For by GRACE are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
One in Christ
11 Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— 12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,[d] but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by[e] the Spirit.
Because Jesus was prophesied throughout the OT. Many different prophecies hundreds and thousands of years before His coming spoke of His coming and His purpose in great detail. The New Testament, Jesus specifically, is the fulfillment of the Old Testament. They are connected and not separate accounts.
The New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. I do feel some was hidden, after learning about the truth of the measure of control we were under. However I always felt that God gave us enough for now, what we needed and can comprehend.
Jesus - I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through (faith in) me.
Paula - Jesus isn't enough. You need to make a pilgrimage.
Us - who else requires a pilgrimage to get to paradise?

If we're going to make stuff up, let's make the pilgrimage destination something fun like an amusement park or maybe Graceland.
