Please make sure you vent this if you put it in glass!!! Glass will explode when making vinegar or mead or anything that off gases if you don’t vent it a few times a day by opening the lid then closing it back up. There is a way to do it with a ballon too but I have never tried it. Not sure about this recipe I am excited to try it but it looks similar to my grandmothers umm “healing tonic” ( we call it grandma whiskey) and this is a lesson you don’t want to learn the hard way.
I use them for small batch sauerkraut. The ones that I have are plastic with a relief valve in the middle. When the pressure builds to a certain point it will "pop off" too release the pressure and then reseal so as to not let unwanted bacteria or contaminates in. I'm not sure where that model is found as mine was a gift from the person that taught me about the technique.
Those would work too! They look like they have a constant open hole though? I could be wrong. These are the ones I use. Catbox photo image, I can't remember if you are one of the Anons that can't get catbox to open for you. Check amazon for "easy fermenter" and they will come up. The benefit to this style is you can use a hand pump to pull the air/oxygen out of the head space which will prevent undesirable bacteria growth. It is especially helpful for pulling out O2 if you want to open the jar to test/taste the progress of whatever you are fermenting.
Apologies for the slide everybody! But it's super easy to do and actually kind of fun kek
Thank you. BIL was a home brewer and I was familiar with his setup. We were both chemists at the time although we both went to the dark side, he to law school and I to IT (yes, I already know how to code). 😎
Wish my husband had known this when he made a bottle of wine. Our first child was only a few months old when the bottle, on top of the refrigerator, decided to celebrate early on its own. Her crib was just around the corner from the kitchen, so none of the glass got to her, and nobody was hurt.
I made some Fire Cider last year and kept it out of the fridge and it is now a year old and I'm not sure if it is still good or not. I was kinda hoping it got better as it aged but that could be wishful thinking.
Interesting find Joy!!! I enjoyed it and shared it with a friend who grows her own medicinal plants and then uses them to make various natural remedies. Thank you!!!
What a blessing , thank you so much , I’m planning on making some this weekend and I can’t wait it sounds so delicious and healthy ! I was wondering about refrigeration and I notice many asked the same on nitter ! Wonder how long it last , although I’m sure I’ll be hitting it hard ;)
Thanks! I love home remedies; grew up with them. For a rusty nail through the foot, which occurred in the barnyard while re-staking the cow, my treatment was bread and warm milk poultices for a couple weeks. Never had a tetanus shot until about age 32. The poultice draws out the exudate. Neighborhood boys often entertained me while healing progressed.

Search for and use a “brewing airlock”.
Nice TY
Fermentation lids work well for this application.

wow we found out in a basement thankfully. On top of a refrigerator would be way more exciting.
Bet you almost had a heart attack though!
A jug and one of these will save you the trouble of having to remember to vent:

The recipe for future reference;
A recipe for "Amish Amoxicillan"
All organic if possible
1 lemon - squeezed
1 small yellow onion
Peeled ginger about the size of a lemon in diameter or bigger, I love ginger
3 or 4 cloves of garlic
1 heaping tablespoon of turmeric spice or raw
1 teaspoon of black pepper spice
1 tablespoon of Cayenne pepper spice
3 tablespoons of manuka honey (the highest raw MGO grade you can afford)
Pineapple cut up, the whole thing ( or use canned in 100%juice)
1/4 cup of apple cidar vinegar
I make my own acv, so mine is sweeter so if you use store bought, maybe use less? I dk.
I blend it all together and eat it raw by the tablespoons 3 times a day or more.
Some like to strain it so do you --if you prefer that. Enjoy healing naturally
Thank you
Thanks for the reminder Joan!! 👏
Lol, awesome. We've been making this for years but we know it as Fire Cider. We take it at first signs or feeling of something.
Can you share how long it lasts. Do we keep it in the fridge.
Was wondering the same?

I use Fish Mox & fish Penn. Both work great, couple pens (1 per day) for sore throat from tonsils is gone.,
Good to know fren...thanks!
Looks similar to "thieves oil". Look it up
Antibiotic?
And put this in your mouth? I can't even eat Thai food 😩
Kek! 😸
Someone from the Amish community could make a fortune by putting all of their home solutions in a book.
Yes! Would love to have one of those, oh wait! There are many books of Amish Remedies! Here's a link and you won't need to purchase a book!
