Why do I feel like these are retired planes.
You should. They are all mothballed and parts donars. I noticed that from the first video. There was probably no anti drone protection whatsoever. This was primarily a propaganda stunt.
Per salt nuclear treaty, they need to be out visible to satellites. Our bombers are the same.
I'm familiar with the SALT treaty but these are not just out in the open, nor or they operational. This is what an operational A-50 looks like. The A-50 radar domes in the video are well worn, heavily rusted and non-maintained.
They very well could be out of commition. They are probably like us ,with to many of them. We had 800 b-52 and now we have around 50.

The 50-year-old bombers are out of service. The ones remaining were originally manufactured 40 years ago and upgraded. Far more recently-built than our B-52s. Strategic bombers must be uniquely visually-identifiable as such, and all in view. None tucked away elsewhere.
But the video is a hodge-podge, consisting mostly of visual tease and only a few images of damage.

And what activity would you expect to see, for aircraft that are not on alert? Strategic bomber bases are not like commercial airports.

Why are they all covered with tires? Increase the black smoke effect? Make the attack look more menacing?
If you needed these planes for an emergent bombing or surveillance mission, is it Russian protocol to send out soldiers to remove the old tires before the plan is initiated?
I tried to explain few days ago, these planes were antiquated, most likely pulled from a bone yard to create this video footage.
These planes were positioned and destroyed for the closing act of the movie we are watching. My guess, Trump will use it to pull out of NATO.

We are Russians, so we overdo with the tires sometimes. We are not that smart as Ukrainians. Besides, the tires increase the radar reflection but totally scatter it. You know, stealth paint is very expensive and the ruble is still in the basement.
Additionally, since none one is demonstrating/rioting in Russia, who needs tires? Yes, I know, the US needs tires, but sanctions, you know. So, we use it on planes.
And although the streamline of the jet is impaired, you know it decreases the speed, who cares. Oil we have enough.
What? Why no ones is responding with the first explosion? Being tired of tires we resort to Vodka. What else!
O, and one last thought. Who needs these planes when there is a beautiful and speedy mach 10 easy response to any location on the planet? You know those big beautiful Oreshniks, Kinzhals and what have you.
Looks more like a video game or AI. But if it is real why don't we see any Russian defensive measures? Maybe they were all gone to lunch?
Uh, the drone that gets neutralized simply goes off the air and does not transmit video. And it was a surprise attack. Their DEFCON level was probably at 5. And what defensive measures would you recommend? Shoot at drones with rifles?

That was puzzling to me, too. My only thought is that the bases may have been were high winds can occur and the tires were intended to impose a basic load on the wings and airframe to provide sure footing. Or they were visual cues to US "national technical means" that these here were indeed bombers covered by the verification treaty. That's an interesting question.
What’s with the gay music? They show a video on an official government channel demonstrating a terrorist attack on planes required to keep a Nuclear Treaty and add gay music.
They also hid the drones in civilian trucks.
