Global outage happening for the past 30 minutes. I can't remember an outage like this since way back in the beta testing when they were just starting
"an automatic firmware update, applied simultaneously to a significant number of satellite nodes, is believed to have introduced an inconsistency in the internal GPS synchronization parameters. As a result, the satellites temporarily lost the ability to accurately determine their relative positions, which led to a failure in properly routing traffic between user terminals and ground stations.
This type of error does not physically damage the satellites or user antennas, but it triggers a cascading effect of reconnection attempts that can overwhelm the control and monitoring servers on the ground. In fact, a partial outage of the Starlink website and management app was also reported."

It just took awhile for them to fly around turning all 7000 satellites off/on again.

Oh, this is very interesting. Okay this explains what I saw with my Starlink service. As you guys might know I have moved it to Malta, in the EU. Last night during the outage my Starlink app suddenly told me that my antenna up on the roof was out of alignment by 8°. A GPS error would definitely explain that.
I was one of the first in the world to get it back when I lived in NE Washington State. Truly changed my world. I went from pure bullshit hughesnet to 100 years into the future the day I first plugged that dish in 😂

Been struggling here at home trying to figure out WTF is going on with my equipment. For some reason, it didn't occur to me to check if the outage was on their end.
Can't even get to starlink.com. The must be having serious issues.
There was an update that needed to be installed on my transceiver. I installed it. Hoping it finds the satellites after the reboot.
Doubt it but we'll see.

I got the update, and hit install now. When my router rebooted I was offline. Came back a few hours later.
Amazon has had major outages too. It happens.

Yes triage and recovery.
Starlink is a ripoff. Their Unlimited Roaming package ($189 Cdn per month) does not allow you to be out of your home country for more than 60 days at a time. The snowbirds in Canada want to go to Florida for 4 months.
For those of us in rural areas, Starlink is the best thing since sliced bread.
And for those of us that like to camp and prospect deep in the wilderness, it provides entertainment and security.

I’m very limited on options. I went from .4 mps with my at&t “high speed” dsl to averaging around 300 mps with starlink. So, about 600x faster. Also the joy of telling at&t to FO.

I had internet issues this morning and they weren't resolved before I left for work. The connection to the internet wasn't working.
I was off line for about an hour in MN and WY. (I have Starlink in both places) back on now.
