Those numbers are from among those populations, and not from among the 42,000,000 as a whole.
There’s no way that there are 42,000,000 / 0.43 immigrants from Somalia/Iraq/etc in this country, and the stat couldn’t even be calculated that way to begin with.

What percentage of that in the total food stamp program will that 59% be overall. It also means 41 are not doing it. I know it's a lot but let's make sure we know and answer the question I just posted.
So if the total food stamp program is for Americans and the 59% illegal is a drop in the total, it's not fine, but I can understand.

What's after the comma in that sentence pivots to speaking about the portion of the population of the US which takes food stamps--but it applies the stat on the percentage of the illegal alien population. Crazy dishonest reporting.
As it turns out, approximately 10% of those who take food stamps are illegal aliens. That 10%, however, represents 59% of all illegal aliens.
This is a perfect example why I do not watch Newsmax anymore. This guy is conflating so many data points together it is appalling. I will try to break it down: 1) This guy (I cannot bring myself to call him "reporter" or "journalist") conflates immigrants with illegal aliens without batting an eyelid. The numbers he is quoting are from legal immigration. 2) He then takes the percentage of those immigrants that are on food stamps and somehow turns that number into the percentage of illegals that rake in all food stamps. There are roughly 200,000 Afghan immigrants in the US, 45% of that is just under 100,000; around 165,000 Iraqi, 34% of that is 55,000; From Somalia, about 220,000, 42% is about 95,000; 730,000 from Haiti, 23% of those gives us 168,000. Now add all of these LEGAL immigrants/refugees that receive food stamps and you get 418,000. That number is roughly 1(one) percent of the food stamps recipients in the US. This dude then reaches deep into his #ss to pull the figure that 59% of all ILLEGAL immigrants are on food stamps... The ineptitude of this guy's logic is abysmal. P.S.: I am NOT saying that illegals do not get food stamps. Heck, they get free hotels and debit cards. But what passes s info on the news nowadays is in the gutters.
Thanks for the number crunching. This is how I figure things out. I would look at it and think, when were the Afghans and Somalians here? Now I can see if they were here for the first 2 years they need that, but if they have been here for a while, contribute. If there's that many immigrants taking food stamps and the war were way back then, you know these are illegals.
What isn't mentioned is the amount of foodstamps. The difference in allocations is more infuriating than how many of whatever camp is receiving it.

The amount of foodstamps one receives is supposed to be based on the number within a household. It is not. It is based on other criteria.
