Which makes me believe this is a white hat operation to end the snap program and put inplace a proper one. We just have to go through the bullshit once Nov rolls around.
I’ve thought about this. I also wondered if it was just a predictable outcome of the democrats behaviors. Playing chess - which I do not play - the dems shut down government and people become aware of SNAP abuses and SNAP gets cleaned up…..Maybe I’m being too simplistic. 🤷♀️

There needs to be a separate program for people who are genuinely mentally or physically disabled and living in care facilities. They do depend on this program as their sole source of food.
Don't forget seniors. Some are only on SS like the disabled and barely get enough to survive. When the cost of everything else rises, they are often left no other options than to decide whether to buy food or medicine. They often do not qualify for assistance, and if they do, what they receive is a joke - usually less than $100 which doesn't buy much these days, while illegals and deadbeats rake in the cash. This system must change.
I was once helping a family member that was mentally disabled and on SSI and SDI. She only received a little over $500/mo. That had to pay for her housing, food, and everything else. We applied for food stamps. After going through the grueling process of applying, what she got in the end was a whopping $18 a month. Back then you had to drive to their office to pick up the stamp book. I had to take her there. I told her to hell with it. It wasn't worth me taking time off of work to drive her there. So I gave her the money out of my own pocket instead - and then some. I was already subsidizing her groceries. The system is broken! Nothing but foreigners and illegals in those lines getting food stamp books. We were the only Americans there.
They gave her $18 for an entire month? That's absurd. They ought to know they couldn't survive on $18 worth of food a month. That system is really broken.
Should be absolutely criminal. Especially when you're hearing these podcast interviews were too illegals are $430,000 in debt, have a new forerunner and home, and are taking Disneyland trips.
Sadly, our seniors and the disabled are left behind while others that don't even belong here are living high on the hog. It is criminal. I used to see it every day in my practice. They drove up in new cars, some of them driving Escalades or BMWs with fancy rims. They wore expensive clothing and shoes, and everyone in the family, including kids, all had new iPhones. My staff would look at each other and wonder why the hell were they busting their butts. Sometimes we would find receipts for the grocery store, paid for with EBT, that had ridiculous amounts of money left in balance. Some of the balances were in the thousands. Absolutely disgusting.
The other problem is that there is a huge taxpayer funded ecosystem that caters to these criminals. All while American citizens are left behind - working for a living on low wages barely enough to keep up, or receiving next to nothing on the same programs that the illegals and other deadbeats are gaming. The entire system is beyond broken. The very people it was designed to help do not receive it.
Banks giving loans to people that can't afford it, I think I heard this story around 2008 too. No government bailouts this time when shit hits the fan is my opinion.
Like giving credit cards to foreign college students that return home after maxing the card and bail on the debt. Then they brag about it on social media.
You would think, right? It was a joke. It's still that way. If you are a single adult with no dependents, you can starve for all they care. That is why the deadbeats, illegals and even some Americans, pump out a bunch of kids - its their golden ticket. All while most working Americans struggle to raise one or two.

YES, Nutrition is the purpose, not snacks, desserts, etc. It should be like WIC, only certain foods ALLOWED, everything else NOT allowed. Such as dried beans, soup bones, fresh & canned vegetables, meat UNDER a certain $ per pound (like the range taxpayers shop for), milk, cheese, maybe juice, pasta, rice, no gourmet brands, . . . probably no frozen b/c that costs more than fresh or canned? I think AI could make a list in seconds . . . Point of Sale cash registers have software that could be updated to make it automatic. It is a disgrace what recipients are allowed to buy, compared to families who pay for others, and themselves have to scrutinize every penny.

Rice, beans, salt, honey, milk, eggs, butter, flour, chicken, ground beef. You don't need anything else. I've lived on that. So can you.
No kidding. I often look at the carts to see what people are purchasing - especially when they have children in tow. It amazes me at the amount of crap that people buy. The only healthy thing in the cart is maybe a bag of oranges or apples. The rest of it is all processed junk. No wonder our society is so fat and unhealthy.
Unfortunately, whenever these discussions take place to limit what recipients can buy under the program, the companies that make this junk food have their lobbyists on site with their checkbooks in hand ready to make campaign contributions or offer jobs. The entire lobby system must be addressed.

You're right. I haven't heard Trump say anything about the lobby system. It must be dealt with. They have too much access and influence that Americans don't. Too many of them actually write the legislation that Congress passes. It must be stopped.

There should be room in SNAP for a bag of real Sugar. Not Sugary Processed foods. They often use HFCS. This has been proven to be unhealthy for growing children.

I generally use about a tablespoon. There are times I don’t use any and times I use more. Sugar feeds the yeast. So, honey could be a more nutritionally acceptable substitute.
I do love a slice of fresh bread with my afternoon Soup. 🍲 With a generous amount of grass fed butter.

Problem is that Dems have allowed EVERYTHING to be SNAP eligible. Why? Because they get massive kick backs from companies such as Walmart in the form of campaign donations. Walmart makes hundreds off millions of SNAP. Now let the masses of parasites that got used to having EVERYTHING they buy paid for by the tax payer taken away and watch them loot and burn Walmart's! November 1st is going to be a popcorn even day.

I think Walmart, and others have stated that if there are those kinds of problems in the stores (including thefts/shoplifting) they will simply close the doors and require ordering on line for pick up.

I used to work at free pregnancy support clinic. After having a baby, some moms would call to complain that WIC didn't give them enough formula for the baby for the month. But, they also got an increase in SNAP benefits, but did not "want to spend the SNAP on baby formula." SMH
not sure how they get around it, but Ive seen them hand cards and gov checks to the cashier in a small old liquor store. Maybe the owner is in on it and trading for booze

This is to counter the Demonrats blaming Trump for the stoppage. They don't even know that the Demonrats are the ones holding up the vote because they need 60% not 50% in which the Republicans hold. Some have footage of trucks lined up as far as the eye can see with beds filled with food and unloading it, hours and hours of footage.

I'm shopping this weekend, but I'm going to a commissary for the first time in 25+ years. I'm visiting my daughter and her family for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday, and they live near a rather large Army post.
The last time I visited them I went to a VA symposium and ended up filing for VA disability, and it actually came through in August. Although they still have a lot of stuff to investigate, they completed enough to get me started at 30%. I expect to be somewhere between 60% and 100% when all is said and done, but all the MRIs/CT Scans, and other exams take time. My last exam proved nerve damage in my neck and arm so that on it's own will likely up me to 60%, and they haven't even started to address my back. None of the issues should've been a surprise - I had over 100 clinic visits for my back and neck in my 10 years in the Air Force, and I sent the VA all of them to make sure they didn't say the issue didn't exist back then. I scanned in close to 500 pages of my military medical records so I could upload everything they would need.
Because my service-connected disability issues are now documented I am again eligible to go to the commissary, and their prices are generally 20-25% cheaper than local prices - even with the policy of selling everything at cost + 5% (for overhead and paying the employees). They also don't have state sales taxes because it is Federal. I don't have any bases/posts within 150+ miles of my house but they live about 20 minutes from that Army post.
There won't be any mobs of people causing trouble there.
I quit my job a couple weeks ago. It's just time for something new. Anyways, I might apply for ebt, not to use it, just to see if I can actually get it.

FYI, this is typically part of the farm bill and has implications for subsidizing farmers in the US by connecting those needing food and the source of the food. It has grown far beyond it's initial scope

what are ideas to improve the economy so people can comfortably afford everything and don't need food stamps?
(usually this is: reducing taxes and regulations so people can start more better businesses for themselves and others... but also perhaps safeguarding against "harmful deregulation" when such policies are enacted but only end up benefiting big corps / the wealthiest)
what effective programs can we create to help people to be more self-sufficient?
(improving existing programs... mostly by starting new "based" MAGA-esque programs that "empower" individuals to create value for themselves and their community?)

Basically: getting people to not want to be on welfare and making easier conditions for them to not be on it. Making it more profitable and enjoyable to work rather than depend
The problem is, able bodied people don't want to work. They want to stay at home and be taken care of by their parents and the parent government. Even if they were empowered to work, they can't play video games and do whatever they want, so they won't do it.
If they can sit at home, be lazy, make babies and collect free money and benefits, they will do that. Why work for it when it is handed to you? All of these government teats needs to be cut off after a certain amount of time and people need to know the gravy train has an expiration date.
