it is off topic from the purpose of the post but in there she emphasized crime is "way down" when speaking on qualifications for law enforcement leadership. it makes me automatically curious of when the crime statistics began going down and how it correlates with ice activity.

My friends in the pool construction industry and housing construction industry have told me there's a sudden influx of inquiry calls for pricing on pools, land, and housing with most of those calls coming from up north. Overland shipping was already being affected and is getting worse now that Mamdani's in charge of NYC. I know some cops that had moved down from NY and NYC, so I'm sure that's only going to increase now, too.
Home and land prices down here in FL have already started increasing, and they're already at the highest levels ever.

But as Mayor, can’t Zohran simply appoint new commissioners for the major enforcement agencies? For example, everyday I go into work I pass several police officers on the subway. These officers are pretty much there to dissuade folks from jumping turnstiles, and thus subtly force people to pay the fare.
Once Zohran is in office though… the new police commissioner can very easily just tell police officers to not stand there everyday, or move them somewhere else.
So even though he can’t change the laws, can’t he mess with how the laws are enforced and where the people who enforce the laws concentrate their efforts?
I fully expect mainstream politicians to push back on Zohran as much as they can, but I really don’t think he cares. He’s going to appoint people and manipulate the system to allow people to do what he wants them to be able to do without fear of consequences (which is already low in NYC).
