This is going to be an unpopular opinion, flame suit on, there's nothing about that checkpoint that looked legit to me. Isn’t this just like DUI checkpoints everyone hates? When do the door to door "checks" begin? I'm not willing to give up any of my 1st or 4th a amendment rights in the search of security or safety. We'll wind up with none. Someone said something like that one time, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
I agree we need to something about illegals, is this the right way though? Stopping everyone on fishing expeditions? Even near the border, rights aren't suspended.
The quote is "Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor safety," which is attributed to Benjamin Franklin.
You’re 100% correct. We can get illegals out without violating the rights of actual citizens. These checkpoints are pure faggotry. They are just setting the precedent, it will be used on us eventually.
Border Patrol..stopping truck drivers, checking if they speak English, maybe check if they have a legit drivers license/or a legit semi-truck license. America has been invaded, by design! We are seeing a step by step systematic destruction of illegals, gangs members(drug/sex traffickers).. The amount of Fyntenal that was coming into America via China & manufacturing in Canada ending up America, destroying/murdering US citizens in genocidal numbers! Whats worse than that...
When the real number of children that have been kidnapped, sex trafficked, organ harvested, tortured/blood drained for Adrenochrome..
America is at War
If you aren't drinking and driving, then it's not a concern. It's only a problem for people who are.
In 2023, there were 12,429 alcohol-related driving deaths. Alcohol-impaired driving is a leading cause of traffic-related deaths in the United States. In 2023, there were 12,429 alcohol-related driving deaths, accounting for about 30% of all traffic crash fatalities in the country. This averages out to about 34 people dying each day in drunk-driving crashes, or one person every 42 minutes.
This isn't a minor problem. Simple check points have their place.
Same is true for having 20 Million illegal immigrants in the U.S.. It's not a small problem. If check points help identify people who are here illegally, then it's worth my 10 minutes of inconvenience.

That sounds a lot like the FBI going to houses to "look at their guns to verify they still have them and none are illegal", or being ok with the govt monitoring everything because "if you aren't doing anything illegal you don't have anything to worry about".
4th amendment
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Woah —flashbacks to WWII— the guy only asked if he was a US citizen—didn’t ask for his ID. I don’t like the idea BUT I do think it’s going to help eliminate the illegals. If the do put in blue cities, it’s going to put everyone on edge because it’s still unnerving and for the libs —it’s going to make them reference WWII.
Yeah I used to go to Nuevo Laredo Mexico once or twice a Month when I lived in the Austin TX area (before the cartel started cutting people's heads off or hanging them from bridges. I hated going back though the stupid checkpoint.
I don't give a rip if SCOTUS ruled the checkpoints constitutional or not. It needs to be brought up again. If Roe, or the Chevron Deference can be reviewed and overturned so can this. The 4th is pretty clear.
I agree. Even if that is an unpopular opinion among certain groups. Constitution first. Just because other administrations didn't uphold it doesn't me this one shouldn't either.
I used to travel to Juarez frequently when I was in El Paso. Like you I stopped going when the cartels started flexing their muscles. They had a van drive around the city every day just to pick up the bodies. I forget what it was called in Spanish, but it translated roughly as "meat wagon." Come across a gas station one day where a husband and wife were both shot at the station while sitting in their Cadillac. That's when I said, I'm done. There was a huge marketplace in the city that the cartel burned down because the tenants didn't want to pay for protection fees. Things were spiraling out of control. I have not been back to Mexico in years. It is not the same place.
All the "papers please" worriers who now believe this is a good thing, please take note. No issue is ever black or white and there are always exceptions necessary. "Absolutism" never helps us in long term because it can always be weaponised. This is a good example why.
Hmmmm I remember these when I was child living in Texas 197ies not sure why they stop, also Arizona had them coming into the state “ they said there looking for fruit or vegetables brought in the state looking for disease. When I got older I read both found lots of drugs
Native Texan here...note that this checkpoint is on a 2-lane road, not the main roads in the Valley that have had decades of checkpoints...i fully support these smaller roads being monitored as well...imo, nobody should mind this kind of security checkpoint, as we squeeze down the alternate routes of transportation near the border...the "mules" already know about the main road checkpoints, and would use these smaller roads to try to skate by the authorities...
In a way we are in a state of war on our own shores. Sometimes these types of measures are necessary while there is an imminent threat to our sovereignty.
Thank you so much for your confirmation. Of course, you want to have a safe country, there's need to be something that required to be done (like a wall patrolled by drones).
There needs to be a balance in times like these. There are certain measures that are unavoidable. From a libertarian standpoint I could make a good argument against some of the things we’ve done in the last year but ultimately this is more of a time of war than not.
The best thing I can think to do aside of course from keeping eyes on everything like this and putting our feet down when things seem to be getting excessive, is to push hard in other areas. We have an entire economy and monetary system that needs to be decentralized and most of that is our job as individuals. Getting everything out of their hands is a massive win and on par with the level of importance of other things that are going to take a hit inevitably as we deal with this situation.

I agree!
This can turn into government overreach big time! The people need to monitor this 100 percent!
Report any government overreach!

No thanks.

Yes, it will be crazy.
This is nothing new. They can do this within 100 miles of Mexican and Canadian border. 1976 SC case ruled on it's constitutionality.
https://www.oyez.org/cases/1975/74-1560
https://openscholarship.wustl.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=6202&context=law_lawreview
If it is expanding beyond the 100 miles, then yes, that's new. There are plenty of resources out there explaining how it works.

I was saying exactly the same thing. By the border Northern and Southern.
Do ragheads drive cars, especially the women?
Don't ask me. I don't know. I am nowhere close to them. Ask Dog. He goes there.

I agree with checking by border. If it's being done all over the 50 states, then I have a probelem.
Hmmmm I remember these when I was child living in Texas 197ies not sure why they stop, also Arizona had them coming into the state “ they said there looking for fruit or vegetables brought in the state looking for disease. When I got older I read both found lots of drugs
When things were right back then.
Nothing wrong with that. Remember that this is still war, and we are under soft marital law!
I actually like to see check point more for truckers too.

Small roads with checkpoints etc would be good.

I would say borders both north and south and within 100 miles.
