What we are seeing here, referenced in the OP, is what is necessary to make that possible.

1.Elon was a temporary federal hire (consultant). The contract was only 120 days. That was to get him in to start DOGE. He didnt walk away, his contract expired after he completed the job.
DOGE never went away (fake news reported falsely, go figure). DOGE has been broken down into departmental level ... uh... departments. Basically every Federal program now has one or more DOGE officers, an accountability and spending department. Each does exactly what DOGE did before, but theyre able to each now dig into each department granularly, root out the fraud and waste down to the penny.
Yes, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk's cost-cutting initiative under President Trump, effectively ended as a centralized entity in late 2025, disbanding months ahead of its scheduled July 2026 end, with its functions absorbed by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), though its principles of reducing bureaucracy and eliminating waste continue through dispersed former members in other agencies.
The OPM has always handled that function, so essentialy, it went back to business as usual.
As for remaining DOGE members, there are around 20 of them spread around different departments. The departments created new roles, but it looks like most of them were closed at the end of the year. The 2026 White House budget has 26 roles for DOGE, but no salary linked to them.
Fraud vitiates everything. If we see our taxes feeding the corruption, it gives us evey reason in the world to stop paying taxes. If the national debt is just an accumulation of expense to pay for the fraud, they can shove the debt up their ass also.
The fraud has always been there and we have always overpaid what was necessary. Illinois has raised fraud to an art form and us constantly coming up with increases and new ways to steal from us taxpayers.
Point of order: that is just the fraud we know about thus far. There is MUCH more fraud then that out there.
