Fake news. I spoke to two different officers, they have had no such orders, and even if they did the constitution does not allow them to interfere with protests per se.

What actually happened is the army had a formal request from the Gardai (civil police force) to assist clearing key infrastructure. They are still considering this request.
Remember, like all Republics, our army swears allegiance to the constitution not some treasonous rat politicians.
If the army moves against ANY citizens outside their mandate, then that’s a go.

These people have run fake shit and perfected their propaganda on this island for centuries, I’m sad to say.
The Dáil is shut for Easter, so it’s perfect timing for a scene, without the TDs(MPs) actually needing to be going in and out of city centre if they don’t want to.
Don’t get me wrong, many or most of those protesting are doing so in good faith. But that’s the thing, they generally act in good faith so get easily manipulate by the small number of sociopaths who always pull the strings here.
There’s a possibility that they’ve misjudged, and that people will be so pissed off that real opposition will set in, but these guys are very, very good at manipulating the public & staying in control.
