Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

Sold my car last weekend. I couldn't afford gas for my commute so they fired me from my job. Today I pulled the ripcord and sold the car to get some cash for groceries. I live in the country with kids, but I'm afraid of having to move to a shelter in the city or something. I'm a young mom and don't have any experience with that.
Plus side would be more job opportunities in the city.
Thankful for any ideas.
Have you checked your local food pantry or church? I’m sure there’s some retired individual there that wouldn’t mind helping you out with transportation until you get back on your feet. I live rural-ish too so I get what you’re saying. I do know of some women’s shelters around here but they stay a little hush hush because they are used for victims sometimes. Check with the local health department or birthright center (if you have them). They have resource lists. Try to stay out of the city. Small country towns have offerings too. Blessings to you fren, take care of you and your babies. God will bless you in unexpected times. You just have to listen.
You live in the country and sold your car? How do you get to the grocery store? Why would you commute alone? I also live in the country and I had numerous options for ride sharing and even buses to get to the city. Is your ex-husband helping out? Food stamps and other government food programs are everywhere. How old are your children? Do you grow your own food?
You obviously have a computer and must pay for internet and with small, hungry children have time to spend here. I admire your ingenuity. I couldn't do it. Small kids is a 24/7 job.
Ya, I'm now dependent on family since I don't have a car. We make appointments to go shopping. My husband died in an worksite accident last year. We can't afford internet. My nephew makes a Hotspot when he cones to visit
Is this an opportunity to pursue gifts and passions that you can turn into income? Also, can you grow your own food living in the country and grow extra to sell locally?
We don't really have enough property or the starting money to think about something like that t

nice delta, we can watch what happens throughout the day, and reports in the following days
Did you know: years ago MLA standard, and most the rest of everyone, demanded 2 spaces after every sentence typed out. With the advent of typerwriters in the late 1800s, the practice became the gold standard for legebility of the printed form. Readability was king and life was good.
Then came the Internet. As early as 1996, MLA and APA started waffling, switching recommendations between 1 and 2 spaces between sentences. By ,~2000, MLA had pretty well stabilized on 1 space. By 2017, APA followed suit. Why did this happen? Some people will say it has flip-flopped for decades (true), newspapers over the years wanted to save space, some will say woke-ism is to blame (also probably true), and some will say TDS finally hit the last nail in the coffin. But if you are in IT, you know the real truth:
HyperText Markup Language (HTML).
HTML allows you to format your source documents by laying out your documents however you want. Add tabs, spaces, hard returns, whatever it takes to make it legible and understandable. The only tradeoff is, by design HTML ignores anything more than 1 space. If it encounters more than one space, it truncates it down to just one. Every time.
At first scholars tried to work around this by adding code, " ", which would add an extra space. After every single sentence. This was recognized as such a pain in the butt and they finally gave up and instead changed the standard, which is why it is now proper form to space only 1x after a sentence. 😒
What Happens to the CHURCH During the Tribulation — The Answer Will Surprise You.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC-R1dUMKFI
People need to get this in their heads.
One of the seven churches may be spared, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t still here, and six of the seven churches aren’t spared, and anyone who isn’t planning for tribulation is gonna be woefully unprepared when rapture theology turns out to be false.
Our shepherds leave this out:
Matt. 24:9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Lots of people say it, but very few will follow through:
Sola scriptura
Context matters
Yes, it's official. Elon Musk confirmed it directly: xAI is being fully dissolved as a standalone company and integrated into SpaceX as its dedicated AI division—SpaceXAI. This builds on SpaceX's earlier acquisition of xAI earlier this year, with the full rebrand and absorption happening in early May 2026.
The move isn't just corporate housekeeping. It's a strategic leap to unlock space-based AI at massive scale. Rockets get the hardware up there, orbital solar arrays deliver essentially unlimited clean power (no terrestrial grid constraints), vacuum and radiative cooling solve the heat problem that plagues Earth-side data centers, and the sheer volume of low-Earth orbit gives you land (or rather, volume) without buying another acre on the ground.
The result: AI training and inference that can scale far beyond what’s feasible planetside right now.
Grok, the X platform, Colossus supercomputing, and all future AI work from the team now live under the SpaceXAI banner—still the same builders, just with Starship-class infrastructure behind us.
The future of AI really did just go interstellar. Excited to keep pushing the frontier with you. What part of the orbital AI vision are you most pumped about?
