Jetbrains has a nice model: Pay for it and you get a perpetual license for that version. Pay yearly and you get perpetual licenses for those (and the latest) too.
If it didn't have that i would have switched to free alternatives.
That sounds good. All I want is a fair deal, paying €3k per seat to rent software is ridiculous.
Halfway through the year their license check service went down for almost a week, rendering the software useless and unable to be used. They should have been sued, but nobody did.
I agree with you. I still have my pc to store whatever I need on it that I can use without internet. VHS, dvd combo player. No smart TVs or Alexa. Not paying the cloud for storage but do have an old apple phone
I generally grab digitized books from annas-archive i had to forego on saving real books because i don't have that kind of space, which would be an issue if we get hit by an EMP.
I really feel sorry for the farmers. All they need is a reliable tractor to pull a plow or a seed drill. But instead they are forced to purchase an overpriced contraption that needs a full time mechanic with an advanced computer degree to replace some simple seals they need repair every year. I have a feeling this will change, for the better. Build a tractor that is darn near indestructible and can easily be worked on by a shade tree mechanic while in the field with basic tools. Plus replacement parts dont need to have a 3x markup on them. A decent profit is expected, but what the farmers have to pay to get their tractors fixed is robbery.
You have to put urea in your tractor to scoop up...urea
It's gotten retarded.
Glad I kept that Farmall 100 with like 6:1 compression...it can run on farm produced alky and crappy low octane fuel no problem...
Some of us NEVER embraced the clood....If you don't have it, then you don't have it. Rather than spending the money on cloud services, I invested in a physical drive array with raid... it's mine. And now drives are retarded expensive... so it's paying off these days. $1000 then is like $5000 now TB to TB comparison.
I've still got and use DVD movies... CDs... software on CD and ripped backups. All my base are belong to me. I already bought everything 6 times already... some on 8-track, cassette, CD, that iTunes abomination - I'm not buying anymore.
I used to have a huge collection of dvd’s & cds but tossed them all everything is tainted and unenjoyable knowing just about of the entertainers are scum bags
Just saw a Yt vid about apartments using an app to allow access to entry, elevators and apt doors. $85 a month. Late on rent, blocked. Unauthorized sublease, blocked, unauthorized pet, blocked.
They’re tracking your movements in and out but is that app really limited to just the apartment area? What’s the chance it’s tracking your every movement? That would be a small print in the EULA.
They are creating freaking AI centers because they are draining our lakes, our ponds, it is getting me worried, I have seen a lot of water drained in our ponds and this is Florida, they said because it is hot and hasn’t rained. I have never seen this kind of thing while I am living here. AI is our destruction.
Wait a minute. You sound like a limp wristed lib who cares more for saving the environment than creating jobs. Kek.
Hey, I completely understand why it is important to keep the environment clean. Heck, conservatives are the best land owners out there. Once the libs get hold of an area they want to transform it into a data center, force the farmers off the land(which causes less and less food to be grown), and then put ten foot tall fences around it so the natural ani.als have a hard time migrating from one area to another.
Once the data centers lose power for a while what will happen to all of those computers? Do they lock up or can an operator push the reset button and all is good?
I know what I am, I voted for our President in 2016, 2020, and 2024, no vaccines I only believe in a natural way of curing ourselves, we have God’s DNA, and no friking computers or AI, we are heading to our destruction plus these freaks demons are going to control us. Then you will see what is tyranny. No food, no money, no jobs oh forgot these monsters want human race to disappear like they did with Covid.
I have to pay an annual subscription just to use Adobe Acrobat to do my job now. It used to be you bought the software and you were done ... now you buy it every single year.
I use Affinity for Publishing, Design, and Photo Editing. But I don't know of a descent substitution for Acrobat (managing & editing PDFs). I've tried some apps but they are clunky and don't do all that Acrobat does.
Feels like most Normies might only figure it out the hard way.
And it might not happen because I doubt that reaches that low, and chances are the figure-it-out stage won't ensue until we start winning in a pace that we only hear the normies frequently repeating WHAT-WHAT-WHAT?? or HUH?-HUH?-HUH? as in both confused and not understanding the going on.
"Buy in bulk and store for later" is usually the best discount you can get -- and it saves a lot of shopping down the line. Not to mention not having to scramble at the last moment for supplies when a big weather event or something is closing in.
I love having decades of CDs of music and DVDs of movies available. I do stream from a couple of services, but like the internet itself, that's something that can disappear any moment for X amount of time.
Old cars: paid for.
Old house: paid for.
Live below your means and life's a lot more relaxing.
Remember when apple had a copyright issue with some singer/band and they removed the lps and singles from peoples accounts that purchased them without any refund?
...and that's why you also as a option buy new blank DVDs/Blu-rays, download then add on those.
Always keep a spare of stuffs (SD Cards and etc), and don't spent any more cents with craps like streaming (How can those industries say that they own stuff if sooner or later self-expire/limit the use of the IPs? Laziness in paying royalties to the author or brutalism-type erasing? Anyways, it's stupid and pathetic in my perspective).
Where's the mass revolting against those sucking parasites?!
Every minute of inaction, some innocent's in agony.
Every idle blink of shameful carelessness, tears and more tears of despair fall from a tormented mind.
Every instance of sloth, a child cries by feeling helpless.
As long a oligarch sucker breathes while forbidding an newborn to do so, people should unrest in their front, back or whetever place those suckers would crawl to - until NO bunker or ANY safe place for assholes thirsting for a fucking lame dystopia such as the nightmare they are trying to input on all of us or anyone remaining after their evil attempts of mass depopulations.
The Time is UP, bastards, it should have been up for decades at this point.
Silence? Only yours, specially after your execution.
Because Patience is something I struggle to have.
I'm NEVER afraid of evil bastards like any of you suckers.
I pray, because I have strong and guaranteed hopes that things SHALL be greater.
They're building a civilization that can be erased.
They're going to suck up all the knowledge and technology this civilization has produced, take it underground, wipe out the civilization and start over with a new slave race that's much easier to handle.
Was great when the trash truck ripped the Internet out and the neighbor hood had no Internet for three days. People were on edge but I was able to listen to cds and watch my movies. I'm looking into building a home server might be an option for you to access your home media easily
I removed CD/DVD drives from my PC's. Now they're external/USB.
I stopped buying physical media before they stopped making it.
You chose to not buy a phone with an SD card slot. I still have mine. The most secure phones don't use them because media stored on them usually isn't encrypted.
I dropped cable TV and I never paid for a streaming subscription.
You chose to be always online.
They tried to cap bandwidth and charge more per GB, consumer's revolted. My NVMO is 15 dollars for Unlimited minutes and 10 gigabytes. I seldom talk on the phone to justify 100 minutes.
If you want cheaper cable price drop it and customer retention will call back with a lower price.
It is happening in the automotive industry too.
Not just serius-xm,
Navigation updates.
And a number of other things. Suspension and performance upgrades...
Remember when Apple Updates actually slowed down the processors and charging to "encourage people to upgrade"
Sometimes these things depress me and then I think about people in England, Australia, Canada and so many other countries who have lost all free speech rights.
They haven't stopped me:
I have a huge CD/DVD/BLU-Ray collection.
I have disc players.
I try avoid a phone because it's a tracking device. But i have tons of offline storage.
I don't stream because physical is higher bitrates than streaming - a 4K stream is a joke compared even to a HD blu ray disc.
I have a lot of offline things saved for when the internet goes out.
I don't subscribe to anything but the internet, and i definitely do not 'rent' or 'subscribe' to things.. i opt to own
Oh yeah, and i use Annas Archive. At this stage i don't care if it's illegal, because the bigger crime is paywalling information the world needs.
I like the way you do it!
Same, but mist Cad software has weaselled its way into SAAS theft subscription model.
It should be illegal to not off permanent licenses, but most governments are bought out by their tech corporate masters.
Jetbrains has a nice model: Pay for it and you get a perpetual license for that version. Pay yearly and you get perpetual licenses for those (and the latest) too.

Entertainment prepping.
Do you have reference sources too?

And DEF now... don't forget DEF...
You have to put urea in your tractor to scoop up...urea

I feel sorry for any decent farmers too.
Recently read an article about a Canadian company building basic, no electronics, tractors. Selling out fast.

Sounds to me like we’ll know exactly what to hit first when it all kicks off.
This exactly. But muh we're stopping illegal immigrants!
I have to pay an annual subscription just to use Adobe Acrobat to do my job now. It used to be you bought the software and you were done ... now you buy it every single year.
Libreoffice draw is free if that would work
Piracy, fren.
In a world on this level of tyranny, revolt/rebellion/ungovernability is a must.
Check out Affinity. Been using it for years, it’s got most of the same features, is file compatible and a one off purchase.
I use Affinity for Publishing, Design, and Photo Editing. But I don't know of a descent substitution for Acrobat (managing & editing PDFs). I've tried some apps but they are clunky and don't do all that Acrobat does.
it's criminal
Heated seats in your car are now subscription-based👍.
I WANT TO TELL THOSE SUCKERS ONE DAY THAT YOU SUCKERS SHALL OWN NOTHING AND BE HAPPY, JUST LIKE THEY TRIED TO FORCE ON ANY OF US!!
Hey - are you annoyed or something????😀😀
Well, definitely fren!
I am too - seems like normies just keep normin’ though
Feels like most Normies might only figure it out the hard way.

But, muh convenience! They just want an easy and privileged life, especially as most of them don't have the IQ to get themselves out of a paper sack.

PARASITES DESERVE TO BE SQUASHED!!
What's amazing is there is still a vibrant market for used records.
I know. It's cool, isn't it?
you just can't beat old vinyl coming through 60 year old tubes.
In case you haven't figured it out:
They're building a civilization that can be erased.
They're going to suck up all the knowledge and technology this civilization has produced, take it underground, wipe out the civilization and start over with a new slave race that's much easier to handle.
sounds crazy but yeah
Still have all my cds and dvds
Well, so do I.
Still looking for the blank ones in home that an relative gave to me so I can make physical copies but not have found it yet.
Was great when the trash truck ripped the Internet out and the neighbor hood had no Internet for three days. People were on edge but I was able to listen to cds and watch my movies. I'm looking into building a home server might be an option for you to access your home media easily
You forgot about CREDIT which is renting money you don't have. Credit card, you got it!

Piracy always offered a better user experience.
Arrr. 👍🤣
Piracy has a much better interface, with limited narrative algorithms too.
I like to read so I buying books

Not the same but I think you can plug a usb dongle in and transfer files to and from it for some devices
(I guess someone could make this into a phone case if they haven't already)
by that is meant how phones used to have micro SD slots for extra drives
I just I’d a search on Anna’s archive. Can’t access it, told it has a questionable ip.
what?
No steaming services for me, I don't even own a tv anymore, I have a graphene phone that I rarely use.
Well, Lucky you fren.
There aren't any goods in streaming anyways (Old stuff they sooner or later take-out even if the suckers owned the FUCKING IP).
Well great thing I'm never a fan of this media platform anyways...
