I have a huge CD/DVD/BLU-Ray collection.
I have disc players.
I try avoid a phone because it's a tracking device. But i have tons of offline storage.
I don't stream because physical is higher bitrates than streaming - a 4K stream is a joke compared even to a HD blu ray disc.
I have a lot of offline things saved for when the internet goes out.
I don't subscribe to anything but the internet, and i definitely do not 'rent' or 'subscribe' to things.. i opt to own
Oh yeah, and i use Annas Archive. At this stage i don't care if it's illegal, because the bigger crime is paywalling information the world needs.

It should be illegal to not off permanent licenses, but most governments are bought out by their tech corporate masters.
Jetbrains has a nice model: Pay for it and you get a perpetual license for that version. Pay yearly and you get perpetual licenses for those (and the latest) too.
If it didn't have that i would have switched to free alternatives.

Halfway through the year their license check service went down for almost a week, rendering the software useless and unable to be used. They should have been sued, but nobody did.

I agree with you. I still have my pc to store whatever I need on it that I can use without internet. VHS, dvd combo player. No smart TVs or Alexa. Not paying the cloud for storage but do have an old apple phone

I generally grab digitized books from annas-archive i had to forego on saving real books because i don't have that kind of space, which would be an issue if we get hit by an EMP.
I really feel sorry for the farmers. All they need is a reliable tractor to pull a plow or a seed drill. But instead they are forced to purchase an overpriced contraption that needs a full time mechanic with an advanced computer degree to replace some simple seals they need repair every year. I have a feeling this will change, for the better. Build a tractor that is darn near indestructible and can easily be worked on by a shade tree mechanic while in the field with basic tools. Plus replacement parts dont need to have a 3x markup on them. A decent profit is expected, but what the farmers have to pay to get their tractors fixed is robbery.

Some of us NEVER embraced the clood....If you don't have it, then you don't have it. Rather than spending the money on cloud services, I invested in a physical drive array with raid... it's mine. And now drives are retarded expensive... so it's paying off these days. $1000 then is like $5000 now TB to TB comparison.
I've still got and use DVD movies... CDs... software on CD and ripped backups. All my base are belong to me. I already bought everything 6 times already... some on 8-track, cassette, CD, that iTunes abomination - I'm not buying anymore.

They’re tracking your movements in and out but is that app really limited to just the apartment area? What’s the chance it’s tracking your every movement? That would be a small print in the EULA.

Hey, I completely understand why it is important to keep the environment clean. Heck, conservatives are the best land owners out there. Once the libs get hold of an area they want to transform it into a data center, force the farmers off the land(which causes less and less food to be grown), and then put ten foot tall fences around it so the natural ani.als have a hard time migrating from one area to another.
Once the data centers lose power for a while what will happen to all of those computers? Do they lock up or can an operator push the reset button and all is good?

Check out Affinity. Been using it for years, it’s got most of the same features, is file compatible and a one off purchase.
I use Affinity for Publishing, Design, and Photo Editing. But I don't know of a descent substitution for Acrobat (managing & editing PDFs). I've tried some apps but they are clunky and don't do all that Acrobat does.

I love having decades of CDs of music and DVDs of movies available. I do stream from a couple of services, but like the internet itself, that's something that can disappear any moment for X amount of time.

Was great when the trash truck ripped the Internet out and the neighbor hood had no Internet for three days. People were on edge but I was able to listen to cds and watch my movies. I'm looking into building a home server might be an option for you to access your home media easily

They tried to cap bandwidth and charge more per GB, consumer's revolted. My NVMO is 15 dollars for Unlimited minutes and 10 gigabytes. I seldom talk on the phone to justify 100 minutes.
If you want cheaper cable price drop it and customer retention will call back with a lower price.
