What about Iceland? The gap between Iceland and Greenland is much shorter than the gap between Iceland and Ireland. Great fishing resources also. Don't Icelanders deserve to be rescued from Europe too?
Eh. Iceland is on the European Continental Plate, whereas Greenland is part of the N.A. Continental Plate and is also considered a sub-Continent that separates N.A. from Europe, similar to how India and Pakistan separates Europe from Asia.
Icelanders will have to fend for themselves for the moment.
Half of Iceland (the more populous area) is sitting on top of North American tectonic plate.

Nope, at 50k Greenland has nowhere near enough population to be a state, plus they don't want to be a state, plus it would be a massive fight in Congress to get statehood. They can be a US territory, like Puerto Rico, Guam, etc. Cuba too. They all get to keep their various languages and cultures, we get the resources and territorial advantage for our national security, and use them to protect the world as well. Everybody wins.
There aren't going to be any more states... maybe territories, but States? Nope.
Several have desired statehood for years and they're not going to get it - Puerto Rico is a perfect example. Guam is another one...

I do hope we acquire Greenland. I have heard for many years now how important it would be to our safety and security. Way back I watched an interview with a US General explaining Justin Trudeau made an agreement with Russia that should Russia invade US they can pass thru Canada provided they leave Canada alone. Whether that's the case or not, I don't trust Canada.
