Exposing national secrets to your enemies should be called treason in my opinion. Maybe he rolled on others for a plea deal.
Absent any state of war, it would not be treason. What folks here don't understand is that this sort of thing is covered by the Espionage Act, for which imprisonment is generally certain. In some cases (e.g., Julius & Ethel Rosenberg) there are capital punishments.
Be content with this being one heck of a perp walk that Bolton can never live down.
If we are lucky, part of the prison prep will be to shave him bald along with his mustache.

He's 77 years old. Add another 5 years and he will have a probability of not making it through prison. If he's healthy, he may come out the other side, infamous and financially ruined, with no market worth.
As someone else pointed out, there is the strong possibility he turned states' evidence (as much as he could) in order to plea for a reduced sentence. In his case, why not? He is not a man with any loyalty.
