Councils order homeowners to remove air conditioning as temperatures hit 40C

Britons sweltering through a week of near-record temperatures have been told to remove air conditioning units from their homes as councils ramp up enforcement of Net Zero-inspired planning rules.
The extraordinary crackdown has sparked fury after residents were ordered to dismantle cooling systems despite temperatures threatening to reach 40C in parts of the country.
Planning officials have argued that air conditioning should only be used as a “last resort”, insisting homeowners must first rely on measures such as opening windows, drawing curtains and using fans.
The row comes as millions struggle through another intense heatwave, with forecasters warning that some areas could challenge temperature records set during Britain’s historic summer of 2022.
In one case, a London homeowner was ordered to “permanently remove” two air conditioning units after planners ruled there was “no justification” for them.
Officials argued the resident should instead ventilate the property naturally by opening windows and balcony doors.
When concerns were raised about security risks, planners reportedly suggested the dangers were no greater than those faced by people living on upper floors and said windows could simply be closed overnight.

The elderly especially are at risk of death when temps get that high for sustained periods. The UK and much of Europe are under a heat dome. Those can be very deadly for vulnerable groups. Parts of Western France have already hit 44C (111F). The heat is often intensified by increased humidity. This is absolutely insane. The heat dome is expected to break by tomorrow and then temps should start to come down.
How many people have to die on this march to net zero. What a pile of shit. Those making these rules no doubt work in air conditioned offices and even possibly their homes. Rules for thee but not for me. Welcome to the great reset.

That all said, I will say that councils here are all assholes through and through. My house fire rebuild 9 years ago shouldn't have faced so much scrutiny or required so much compromise to achieve what I wanted from it.
I lost my roof so I wanted a full dormer. They wouldn't approve it despite most houses in the area having them. Had to settle for a half dormer, which fucked up the layout of the master bedroom and lost me a third of the space from it. Wanted to extend the conservatory by a few feet. That was rejected. Wanted a utility room to house my household appliances in safely, which were the items that caused the fire. That was also rejected. In the end I got a fair bit more from my home by tossing lots into it, but I did not get what I wanted because the government wouldn't let me have the right to properly own my property.
They fucked me over good and proper with things that shouldn't have been blocked or considered unreasonable. They are fuckers who want to control everyone's lives, and are just as power mad as anyone else in politics here. It is why i cannot wait to be able to buy a home somewhere near the beach on the east coast, and move me and my beautiful Italian wife there ASAP. I'm done with fucking Britain and it's desire to run roughshod over everyone here. The stiff upper lip the british are famed for is just them being trained socially to accept slavery to their socialist state.

The Tesco brand supermarket is here in South Wales selling off half of each of it's large store car parks to a construction company called 'Trojan' - can you make it up, and yes on their website they proudly boast that they are fully compliant with all the Agenda 2030 DEI and carbon rubbish, to get that all important ESG score. 40C? Not around here officer, its more like 34C outdoors and inside, in the shade its around 30C. Where did this 40C temperature come from, the BBC? I might have known it.
