Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has resigned as the MP for Clacton to trigger a snap by-election. He is making a political gamble to let voters judge his actions amid escalating scrutiny of his finances and investigations by parliamentary commissioners.
Farage announced the shock resignation on July 7, 2026, framing the upcoming by-election as a contest of "the people versus the establishment". He has confirmed his intention to stand as a candidate in the same Clacton seat.
The resignation follows renewed investigations by the UK Parliament into undeclared financial support and donations. Specifically, he faces scrutiny over an undeclared £5 million gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne and financial backing for his private security and staff from long-time ally George Cottrell.
In his televised announcement, Farage strongly denied any wrongdoing, stating he has "not broken the law in any way at all" and condemning the standards investigations as a political tool. He also expressed deep anger over journalists allegedly harassing his family during the investigation process.
This is a good move. It preempts any lawfare against him and puts the ball into the people's court, and pretty sure he will win.

First let's address your incorrect news the £5m came some 3 years ago! REFORM are not the same as tories. Bubble, I have a question. My sister is pro illegals and I live in her house, she likes to argue with me and want to impose her ideas on me. How do you respond when she ask me that I don’t know who is illegal. I told her that I didn’t want to argue because I knew her stance on the subject, that she has her own opinion and I have mine. She knows that a lot of truckers and people doing construction or people that don’t speak English are here illegally or get their us immigration status illegally because I speak English and she does as well. She told me she is an Hispanic too but I told her she is here legally and she said how do I feel if someone (a white person) think about me the same. I didn’t say anything to her but I have felt that way and I don’t blame them for that because this is their land and people are tired of illegals and because of them people like me pay for what they have done. Anyhow I have been having issues with her. It is time to move on.

The world needs to take these assholes more seriously. They aren't interested in joining the brotherhood of man. They want to subsume all other cultures, like the cancer that they are. Islam need to be designated in the same lines as communism, et al. I’m wondering if it’s maneuvering to get Rupert Lowe into pole position to unite restore and reform…. Maybe Nigel has been a decoy to draw the ire of the deep state while Rupert has been largely ignored. Rupert is recording a podcast with Joe Rogan which will do numbers and raise his profile massively as well as provide red pills like confetti
.Rupert only appeared 2 years ago. Farage has been fighting for UK for 25-30 years, lowe has little following in uk except far far right and would not maintain the broad support Nigel had.
