Name checks out.
I doubt it. He wasn’t going to stay and run Twitter forever.. and I’m sure he already has someone lined up to take over, maintaining the right direction.
It’s not like he’s going to allow all his work to be undone — so doesn’t really matter what the outcome of the poll is.
I wasn’t referring to the automatic backlight feature that most devices have to dim in bright surroundings or brighten in dark surroundings, but a feature that turns ON the backlight (from being off in its resting mode) when the user looks at the screen.
But yes, it makes sense that this would be specifically for proximity, because to determine the direction of the face, I’m sure it just uses the actual camera lense.
Had it a couple times. Just did what I do for any other cold… lots of C, D and water, and some various herbal remedies here and there for symptoms.
For the VAST majority of people, it’s nothing to worry about.

Any phone that shows the screen or increases the backlight when you look at it is doing this. Plenty of android phones will increase the backlight so you can see the time and notifications when you look at the screen.
This can be turned off in iOS. Not sure about android. Someone else may know.
Probably because it was discussed to death when the video was released over a year ago.
No one was okay with it.
Some people speculated he was being coy about it (preventing further lockdowns, exposing big pharma, etc = lives saved) and others just figured he was wrong about them, or was blinded by ego.
Update: I was missing a major piece of the story. What was posted was not simply public flight info. From what I gather, Elon pays for a service to anonymize his travel so he, personally, doesn’t have his location always available to any nutcase. (Remember, he’s a private citizen, not a government employee).
What happened was someone reverse engineered the method used, and broadcasted for everyone his active flight path.
This is equivalent to someone accessing a cab dispatch center, finding out the cab number that Elon is in, and then broadcasting it to the world in real time.
Knowing these details, I would gladly support a permanent ban for these accounts.
I actually voted ‘now’, because what they did wasn’t a violation of the rules at the time they did it. The rules were changed, and then they were suspended.
Also, posting public flight info, although irresponsible, isn’t the same thing as doxxing someone.
I don’t think he made the right decision, though obviously understandable when what they did enabled someone to threaten the safety of his kid.
All of this to say, I don’t think it’s a resurgence of bot activity.
Probably a stunt to get viewership back.
Too late. Epoch times needs a news a channel.
Bad day?
LOL!
How can anyone not love the pillow man?
Not much. CCP isn’t any more dangerous than our own CIA, who can own virtually all public and private devices.
Not to mention most hardware manufactured in China is already compromised, though the data is not as readily available as it is when aggregates through social media apps — but it’s still an option if you become a target of intelligent agencies.
A small amount fought, but if it was only that small amount that believed in the cause, then it would have been an incredibly pointless fight.
You can’t force people to be free.
“These companies have to block…” how about you stop trying to put the responsibility of parenting onto anyone else but the parents? How about that, numpty?
If parents are involved in their child’s life, and bother to parent instead of letting them rot in front of a screen, they will know who they’re communicating with online. And if that’s too hard — no online communication is an easy solution. We had no online gaming when I was growing up, if we wanted to play together, we lugged our PCs to each others’ houses and ran an IPX network for the weekend.
No. Biological male.
Good article.
Only 7???
Hard to know. Could have just been demonstrating a new browser feature. Could be malware.
Not enough information to go on, unfortunately.
Either way, since Google is notoriously terrible, I’d suggest finding a nerd in your life who can install a better Linux distribution on your chromebook so you’re not stuck using chromeOS.
Most likely there are no real privacy options for computers or devices once they’re connected to the internet (since most hardware is probably compromised out of the box), but we can know with absolute certainty that using a Google device and OS is literally handing all of your activity on a silver platter to ‘alphabet’ agencies.
Ehhh, I think you need to study Mozart a bit more if you think that’s not an exaggeration.
Some claiming to be from Brazil have refuted the claim. The original “report” didn’t make a lot of sense, so I’m inclined to assume the commenters are correct.
This is not accurate. The recaptcha service can only view its own cookies, which have to be integrated into the sites using it.
What this means is, using a unique ID (known as a device fingerprint), your activity is identified on sites that use that service, and recorded for that service. This is also easy to counter with browsers like Brave or Safari which have built in anti-fingerprinting, which generally results in more aggressive recaptcha checks because they can’t verify your previous activity.
Websites cannot access your browser history. Only nefarious (native, not web) applications can. Don’t install questionable apps, or use chrome or edge.
Seems plausible, but I’m pretty certain this isn’t a real tweet. Only thing circulating on Twitter is this “screenshot” and there doesn’t seem to be any record of the original tweet.
