Top White House aides set up a "wall" to shield President Biden from unscripted events and long interviews amid fears of the president’s testiness and habit of mangling statements, according to a new book.
"Peril" by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa cited a number of incidents from the gaffe-prone president in the early days of his administration, including a back-and-forth with a CNN reporter for which he later apologized.
"That side of Biden -- his tendency to at times be testy or mangle statements -- was still with him and now part of his presidency," the book says.
In turn, a number of Biden aides told the reporters that Chief of Staff Ronald Klain and then-White House advisor Anita Dunn worked to prevent such incidents by keeping him away from "unscripted events or long interviews."
"They called the effect ‘the wall,’ a cocooning of the president," they wrote.
The book says that the White House had to go into damage control mode after Biden announced he had struck a major bipartisan infrastructure deal, but then said it was contingent on a more liberal spending package being passed.
It reportedly surprised Democrats, who saw them as separate, and angered Republicans who were unhappy about the caveat. It led to officials working the phones to repair the damage, and Biden issuing a lengthy statement to clarify his position.
The book contains a number of revelations, in particular its reporting about how General Mark Milley was in communication with the Chinese to reassure them about fears of an attack during the chaos surrounding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

I just thank God for looking out for me last year. A lot of medical practices here are moving to a concierge type format and don't take insurance. Our doctor was part of one of those practices so we had to find a new provider. We looked at the options available and went with a nurse practitioner who: was my age and took care of her elderly parents, just like I do. Those things are important as it gave her some insights into how our lifestyle worked. It also helped that she moved her from Florida.
Recently took my mom for her annual checkup and of course, the doc asked about the jab. During the "no way" discussion, we learned that she is all about helping with other treatment protocols if we were to catch a case of coof. She said yes to HCQ, Ivermectin, monoclonal antibodies - whatever we want to do in order to stay out of the hospital.
God was watching over us as he always is. I thank him every single day.

This is a new doctor for us this year. She has asked us with every visit if we want the jab and we just said no, and she let it go. Today I was feeling a little salty and just had to expand on the discussion. Boy, was I surprised. But we are in red country in Delaware and is originally from Florida, so...
She is a nurse practitioner vs an MD. I've found I have better luck (and care) vroom NP's in general anyway.
My company sent out an email today saying that they were waiting until the official mandate is released. I'm sure they'll still fold but I am hoping all the incoming lawsuits will render any mandate illegal before they even get started.

Whatever happens needs to happen fast. I'm hanging on by a thread and can't take much more of this 'administrations' bull. I will fight if the mandates come to my workplace but foresee downsizing to try and get $$ out of my home. (Built the damned thing for my mom to have her dream house in her golden years. Well this ought to get quite interesting for me soon. I work for a contactor. Although I have worked remotely for 15 years or more, never visit customer sites and have probably gone in to the office 5-6 times in a decade, my company is big on compliance. Understandably so, in the normal course of business. But if Biden requires all employees to be vaxxed, they will do it.
Let them try and force me. They can fire me first. My 15 years of knowledge and dedication will leave with me. They can keep all the youngsters who only want to work 9-5 and don't have a clue how to do my job or have the contacts/relationships that I have. Besides, I've already calculated how much they'll have to pay me when I sue. 10 years of salary plus benefits and medical that I would have earned had they let me retire from the company. 😁

My sister in law got the jab out of fear of not being able to work (No jab/no job). She ragged on me for months to succumb so we could take our annual girls trip out of the country. She is now having major buyers remorse.
The company now isn't reopening until maybe January 2022 and she realizes she could have waited and researched more. Especially since she now seems to be having heart palpitations. She is kind of a hypochondriac and has had a full cardio work up every year for the last decade. Every year the doctor told her she had the heart of a 16 year old.
Over the last year, she had done all kinds of things to make herself healthier - eating better, exercising, losing weight... Along with other now well known symptoms she is having, I am fearing vaccines issues but can't bring myself to spell them out for her. I tried before she got the jab but she wouldn't listen. Now I would just scare her. I did tell het to get to the doctor right away and get looked at. Catch it early and all. Still, i am terrified for her.

"The study isn’t large enough to detect any extremely rare side effects, such as the heart inflammation that sometimes occurs after the second dose, mostly in young men."
There are over 75M kids in the country. About 6% have caught COVID and survived. 460 or 0.0006% of all kids have reportedly died from COVID.
More children have died from being shot in the last year then COVID. I am assuming more have died from the flu in recent years.
