What he said is not quite accurate. Prices fluctuate wildly due to weather and demand around the world.

Just so you know, the advertising as non GMO is a gimmick for most, if not all vegetables. You know ketchup that says non GMO? There are no GMO tomatoes. Field corn (not the same as the sweet corn people eat) and soybeans are the two where you run into GMOs.
The feds have paid farmers not to plant to artificially raise prices for a long time. They supposedly do it in an effort to keep farmers in business for national security. This is nothing new. There are a lot of subsidies in growing corn. They keep a lot of farmers in business with subsidies and the big ones can make a lot of money. The USDA needs its budget severely cut, especially since the majority of it goes to food stamps.
I haven’t heard about being paid to destroy crops but I’ve never raised corn or known anyone that has. I don’t believe the part about prices being $0.35 lower because you won’t sell to the feds. That’s not how this works.
$10 seems about average for soybeans. I think corn was near $7.25 in about 2008 when the ethanol crap got going. I don’t raise either so I’m not up to date on prices but neither seems unusual. The prices fluctuate a lot based on world wide supply and demand. I’m too lazy right now to look it up and post a link.
