By using the word confess, it primes the reader to attribute more weight to the accusation. A confession is far more likely to be true than an accusation. Language fucking matters, we aren't communists.
Plenty of scientists are idiots. And even more are loose with definitions and how they present things for layman consumption - and 'layman consumption' includes whatever reviewer their paper will be put before in their quest for journal publication.
But I get what she's saying here in this case. And there is good value to unpack, it's just wildly hyperbolic and speculative.
The spike protein is NOT a prion protein. But it may cause other innate proteins to go off pathway and misfold in a way that itself is self perpetualizing and detrimental. Thing is, that's speculative at best even with phenotypic observation. Because even a self perpetualizing process is not itself indicative of a prion protein; a misfolded protein that itself can be solely repsonsible for this self perpetualization. Lots of complicated pathways end up in self sustaining disregulation, and this can and does present itself commonly in neurodegenerative disease, but without regard to the disease origins a pathway disregulation can't be shed. You can't just call everything that phenotypically presents this way as prion or prion-like.
Plenty of accute enviornmental factors can produce neurodegerative disease, but we do not refer to them as prions or prion-like for clickbait.
It isn't enough to disregulate and it isn't enough to affect the brain to call something prion-like. Because in the end, all viruses both mild and deadly naturally take you off pathway regardless of whether a single protein of theirs is introduced with an mRNA vaccine or if you just get infected 'naturally'. Disregulating pathways is how they take control of a cell and redirect it for their own ends. That's not a prion-like capacity. We're destroying the utility of the word prion here.
A more accurate headline would be, "Viruses may be responsible for many disregulation diseases even with accute exposure as the disregulation self sustains post exposure ... and therefore don't fucking introduce proteins with these regulatory features unless you know what it does and where it goes first"
Which is why inactivated viral particles with useless genetic material make for great vaccines and and mRNA coding for a viral protein that can end up anywhere in you is fucking ridiculous. But the spike protein is not a prion protein. And it isn't inducing a prion disease just because all neurodegenerative disease presents similarly at the cellular level even with disparate origins and causes. I mean, maybe it is, but no it fucking isn't.
Ok, let's end the rant with science. Falsifiabiliy. If the spike protein is inducing prion disease, then someone who is exposed to the spike protein would develop disease, and then would be able to communicate this disease by shedding proteins other than the spike potein (which they themselves don't produce, because they weren't vaccianted). That is what you would expect to see. There is no evidence for this, they aren't looking for this, they don't expect this to be the case, they are using prion in a stupid shitty layman way to get click-baity attention.
Or maybe I still misunderstood because I'm happy to write a scathing review of their headline but won't take the time to read the actual article. There are lots of ways to fail the system, lots of ways help your kids.
Teach them the truth and you may not last long. Teach them to find the truth for themselves and you'll be by their side long after they've left your classroom. You're not getting HIV from the vaccine. Time will not tell, right now will tell. HIV is a virus, not a single protein. Just because it does or doesn't cross react with what was an antigen specific antibody test for HIV does not mean you have HIV.

Prion protein:
The spike protein is NOT one. Why do I say that? Because a prion protein is a misfolded protein whose misfolding is regulated by the misfolded protein. In order for it to have a prion effect in you, you must already produce that protein. You do not make the corona spike protein. Now that changes if you get the mRNA vaccine and it ends up encorporated in some number of your cells, but at that point it's not modulating the spike protein to make a variation of the spike protein that further regulates the spike protein into folding into the spike protein because that's alreay what it's doing from inception. It's just the spike protein.
So either you're vaccinated and it's negative affects are going to be with you for some degree of permanence, or you didn't get vaccianted but you are exposed to someone else's spike protein at which point those negative affects are temporary - it's just acute exposure in lower volumes than if you had been vaccinated - it's not going to embedd and alter you in any way.
I've explained this terribly and need to think on how to do this better.

Understand, on it's own communism doesn't fair well in argument - the alternative arguments win all the time. In practice, in principle. Communism fails morally and it fails in it's results.
So Communism's core approach is to first destroy the functional system it will be compared to so they can blame the functional system for the failures and market communism as a solution.
