I had previously considered polling regarding trust in media and trust in government as possible metrics, but had trouble reconciling how 16% of Americans could have trust in the government, but 32% had trust in media. 32% trust might suggest it's a partisan thing, but that 68% distrust is awfully close to Juan's 72% awake estimate.
So why is trust in government lower? Because it is possible to distrust the government without believing they are part of a giant global Satanic cabal, whereas anyone that trusts the media pretty much by definition cannot be aware of the cabal, because the media covers for them. I think that last 8-12% is going to be a very hard nut to crack because they're largely Democratic partisans at this point..
