The military isn't for everyone. People aren't always a round peg and the military is a learning organization that must evolve quickly to meet the threats not only of today, but of 20 and 30 years down the road.

As far as power goes, the president ranks right under God, and therefore the power is not quite absolute. Which is why we have unlawful orders as a safeguard.
The military has a set of laws called the UCMJ and its own justice system. Those in uniform fall under that, while civilians (everyone who does not serve in the mil is a civilian, including first responders) fall under United States Code and state law. Military also has something called the law of war, or commonly known as the law of armed conflict which we must adhere to during times of war. Lawful orders are orders which are not illegal, but are required to complete the mission. Unlawful orders are orders which violate the law or law of war. The supreme court does not make law, they interpret the law. Until someone specifically challenges it, which could take years, those in uniform must get the jab as long as Biden says if he is commander in chief. That's the way it works, that's what is defined as good order and discipline.
We do, but must fight for them to not be stripped just like everyone else. We are very sheltered and isolated from the shit this country has become while in uniform. When I was in federal custody last year (just released last month) one of the US Marshall's guarding me for a hearing knew me from when I was in the Army. He told me about a guy we served with who was running around Portland during the riots bashing pedos. He claimed for his defense that President Trump deputized him.
