I agree with avoiding big pharma where possible, for sure. I just don't believe that removes responsibility from big pharma either though. They have an explicit trust and responsibility instilled in them. It's why removing liability was the worst thing for an industry focused on profit.
If the company puts poison into their alcohol, they are absolutely responsible for any effects of that.
These people have a drug addiction. I swear that's what it is.
I admire Gandhi's use of nuclear warfare to win by forcing submission through war.
Oh, right. The real life guy. Yeah, I'm not fully convinced of him either.
Maybe, maybe not. I don't know that we'll get answers on that anymore...
I'm glad to see stuff like this being floated around though. We need to know more, because it needs to be stopped and justice must be meted out to those who keep acting to destroy this country.
I don't think he reversed course. He has clarified some things, but there will be many who still won't accept those clarifications.
Reagan's legacy will always be amnesty to me, but I was not alive during his time as President to appreciate the good points.
H-1Bs are supposed to end.
The problem in the case of "never ends" is that it seems to give you a good path to getting a green card, which it should not.
3-6 years is far too long. If there were truly a shortage, the hiring would be for a year at a time with a maximum of one year extension while American laborers are brought in. AND it would be at a salary and a half of the current average for the position, preventing any situation where it could ever be cheaper than hiring American.
The most important issues didn't shift. Economy, illegal hordes, the cusp of world war, rampant government spending and abuse, DEI.
This IS a distraction. Whether people are talking about it doesn't change that it's not the most pressing issue and certainly hasn't been until a week ago.
I'll apologize for responding about customer service, I won't apologize by not being like the outrage mob on the left moving from topic to topic when it's simply just the most recent drama being over embellished and placed above everything else.
It's a big deal. But you'll never get total destruction of it at this point. This is one of of those "doors once opened" situations.
Instead, you can build around the opening and reduce the number and control the quality of people that come through that door.
Right now, the number is around 600K H-1Bs.
But for many people so emotionally invested against it (yet never talking about it before) they think that the only solution is total destruction -- or else -- and that IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN because you'll never convince anyone, and when so many of the people against it are actually being racist about it, no one will come to the table to side with us either.
You're a long time poster, obviously not a shill so no one should be accusing you of that. But there are much more infrequent posters with relatively low engagement attacking anyone who disagrees, and those are historically likely to be shills.
KKK is a leftist invention.
And then of course, in the end both sides were right to some extent -- that we needed a new place to go, but also that the way it was being handled was not correct.
Because then the drama with TheDonald.win happened, and ever since it has been even worse over there.
I sometimes wonder if people remember the half of the mod team that were ousted because they disagreed on shuffling people to an external site instead of continuing to engage in discussion.
That mod team actually did the work.
The workers are there. Or at least, they would be if DEI initiatives were purged.
DEI causes the best people to miss out on schooling or job opportunities, so even though people are or would have been qualified if they weren't rejected from those opportunities, we have a "shortage" because they didn't. One feeds into the other.
Of course there is rampant abuse. Why do eSports "journalists" need an H-1B visa? Not a skilled worker whatsoever. Easily remote to boot.
The person I was engaging with exists only to attack other users. It is a long standing history with his account.
Definitely a leftist, or at least equivalent.
I absolutely can. On the culture side of it, Melonie Mac is alienating people like an old school Bible thumper when she has a pretty trashy past, and now after strides to improve the image of Christianity and bring people to God, people like her are destroying it.
It's all a big shame right now. It makes me believe that people have learned nothing except bitterness and hatred the last four years.
It's not even just opposing opinions.
It's opinions that just don't go as far as they want.
You can acknowledge the problems, you can endeavor to improve that and suggest drastic reforms, and they will still do their best to be abrasive and attack you for it.
The infighting over this is so absurdly tiresome.
Someone on Patriots exposed themselves as not actually wanting a solution, they just want to be abrasive and stir up drama.
You can drop it down to 40K or less as a hard cap for foreign workers and that's still not enough.
You can add a salary and a half requirement, that's still not enough.
You can limit it to 1-2 years, and that's still not enough.
It needs to be gutted and it needs reform against abuse, but destroying it entirely was never on the table.
...And most of these people never talked about H-1Bs until now, and they act like it is worse than tens of millions of illegals or DEI initiatives that cause all these "I'm white American and I got rejected for this job or this job" stories in the first place.
In one of the threads about it being reported that Trump likes H-1Bs, people were turning on Trump and saying it was "the ultimate betrayal".
Those users would have been instantly banned with no recourse back in The Donald days. I have no idea what is even going on with Patriots' mod team. They can't even enforce rule #1.
Bullying at 5 doesn't really happen. It is generally at the latter stages of elementary school forward.
I think the notion that this is "the most pressing issue for MAGA" is inherently silly.
There are roughly 600K current visa holders.
That is a small fraction of the number of illegals affecting politics, getting cheap jobs under the table, etc.
I maintain that this topic is exclusively to drive a wedge between people.
But you're right, I apologize for responding to a post about customer service. I was attempting to show that I see their beliefs, but it wasn't relevant.
And I still have yet to forgive her for that. I don't believe I will.
Don't think this would affect call centers out of Bangladesh as they aren't working in America. But I agree completely.
Customer service should always be by people with a clear accent native to the regions they're servicing. Any time anyone has to say "excuse me, could you repeat that?" is a waste of time for both parties.
They cheered when Corey Comperatore was murdered.
That moment told me they will cheer on anything.
