It is a fantasy that there will be a military coup in the US. It is shocking how many people have lost faith in democracy, and how many will deny the US is a democracy at all. Losing an election isn't the end of the world or should not it mean a fundamental change in how we do business in this country. Parties have been winning or losing elections in this country from the beginning, and it goes on. I don't know maybe I just got myself banned for believing in democracy
That was never a real thing. The law that some people thought meant that previous president retained control of the military for 60 days didn't actually say that. All it did was provide funding from the GAO to the previous president to set up a post presidency office. The act doesn't say a single word about the military. I know people are unhappy with the current situation, but we have to live in the real world. It does us no good to entertain these fantasies.
They use a smaller plane for short trips or trips to airports that cannot handle the larger plane. Trump took the smaller plane frequently on weekend trips to his golf club in NJ. Biden was on the larger plane yesterday to Atlanta. This obsession of which plane Biden is on is getting us nowhere.
There was one Pennsylvania case about the 3 day extension the state was using to allow mail in ballots to be received. I am not saying I remember his perfectly, but that was the only case on the record where Trump won in the Supreme Court, and all that did was order the state to keep those ballots separate in case the Court decided to disallow them later. It turned out to only be a few hundred so it wasn't decisive either way. All other cases the Court refused without disclosing which Justices were for or against taking the case.
Democrat Durban of Illinois is pushing for a probe of the FBI probe into Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearings. Democrats are setting up to refer Kav to the Justice department for perjury. With Garland as AG this its going to get nasty. They are going to try to force Kav's resignation from the Court. Vigilance will be required.
Here is the detail:
DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. has backed out on a contract promise to invest $900 million at an assembly plant outside Cleveland for an unnamed product line that instead will be produced in Mexico, United Auto Workers officials said.
“We 100% reject the company’s decision to put corporate greed and more potential profits over American jobs and the future of our members,” UAW Vice President and Director Gerald Kariem said in a letter sent to union members late last week.
Ford’s F, +1.60% promised investment at the Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake was made during 2019 contract negotiations. The plant currently has around 1,700 hourly workers producing Ford E-series vans and Super Duty pickup trucks.
Kariem said the UAW has asked Ford officials to explain the decision but have received limited information thus far.
Plant manager Jason Moore sent a letter to workers saying conditions surrounding the promised expansion have changed. Ford is investing in the Avon Lake plant and will be increasing production of Super Duty trucks there, Moore said.
Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker declined to say what vehicle the company plans to manufacture in Mexico.
The $27 million settlement makes it a lot more likely that the police officer gets his case moved to another part of the state. Unfortunately, the publicity over the case was nationwide, and Minnesota doesn't have that many places the trial could get moved.
I still think it is weird that Trump went on Fox last night and said people should get the vaccine. He knows how much of his base is skeptical of it. And what was his motive here, was he being threatened with something that he said to take it? There is more here than we know.
Trump really should have had better lawyers. Between the complete collapse of all three branches of government or Powell is just a crappy lawyer, which is more likely? You can be upset at the election, but you also have to live in the real world. But I am not sure that feeling applies around here very much.
With 19 Republican voting to approve the nomination. Jeez!
