there could be multiple reasons for this. aside from ensuring they have enough infrastructure to handle the amount of users, this also allows them to throttle users joining which could benefit them. For example - if they decide to let X users in per day over the course of a few months, this will show steady growth and warrant an even higher valuation.

Joe Rogan has always been awake, arguably longer than the majority of those on these boards.
