Military does a lot of makeshift sleeping arrangements. They are actually very accustomed to it. So sleeping on floors is no biggie. However getting kicked to the curb, literally, by sticking them into a parking garage, in the middle of DC winter, with limited restrooms, on greasy concrete, when the dining area is available, because of some pissant elitist slugs are inconvenienced....is a whole different kick in the teeth.
Seems like a good PR move to make sure the troops are on our side. Optics rule this entire battle plan it seems. This is different warfare.
Agree with Akula69, Military are accustomed to makeshift, granted a cold cement parking lot garage is not make shift when you have the Peoples house Captiol. Clearly the inconvenience of our elected(????) is a higher priority. They clearly serve only themselves and the highest bidder. WE KNOW AND IT WILL NOT GO UNFORGOTTEN!!
DC in January in concrete is bitterly cold. They didn't come with heaters as far as I know and don't have THAT much cold weather gear. It's miserable and unnecessary in a city in the U.S. Period.
I can confirm. I served in the Air Force, not the Marines, and even I slept on the floor many times. The worst was in an big old aircraft hanger while on standby for potential deployment to Afghanistan when the Soviets invaded.
I was enlisted, military makes us sleep anywhere. Not CiCs responsibility unless lower higher up complains (which rarely happens) and then complain goes up the chain of command. Never reaches the top brass, they have other shit to worry about. We go we conquer and sleep anywhere they let us. Garage is sometimes a luxury. I had to sleep in hangars, airports, shops, flight decks, shit, I slepy in the manways, scuttlebutts, and heads when I was drunk.

I was always in conflict with our oath and thought it was strange. It makes swear that will protect the constitution against enemies foreign and domestic while also making us swear that we will obey the orders of those appointed over us. Well what if the orders of those appointed over us go against the Constitition?
Little did I know there is an original oath that doesn't carry the oath to obey the orders of those appointed over us. That being said, the marshal deputies oath video shows them using the latter not the former, which gives me some hope. But remains to be seen. You can definitely expect our military to obey orders, but I do believe our officers wouldn't carry unconstitutional orders. My COs were all pretty good and decent people. That's just from personal experience.
