By banning the Keystone pipeline the only thing it does is force us to import more oil from the Middle East and reduce our energy independence. We are going to use the same amount of petroleum, it will ejust be coming from somewhere else. Banning fracking does not equal clean energy.
It is actually more harmful on the environment considering the pollution from the transportation of getting it here through overseas vessels and railroad distribution in the US. It also cuts 50K American jobs at the same time. It reduces the amount of money the government can make on income taxes, and increases gov spending on unemployment.
Plus, it pollutes much more getting it here overseas on tankers, and we risk oil spills in the ocean as these tankers are moving it. It's safer and much less risky from an environmental perspective to use the pipeline, it keeps energy-related jobs in North America, and it keeps fuel costs lower for everyone.

Moreover, we are going through a phase of monetary theory; cash is being printed and debt is escalating into the trillions. This should highlight how irresponsible politicians are with your money. They spend way beyond what they collect each year. On one hand, they could continue to just spend indefinitely and give you cash forever; on the other, the value of the dollar will continue to shrink. As the debt continues to climb, just remember: it's your money and your children's children's children's money that will have to pay it all back. We used to care about budgetary choices, but now bureaucrats seem to spend at their leisure and rather inconsequentially.
One thing that surprises me about the modern progressive is their virtually unlimited trust in state actors to spend intelligently and treat the population fairly. From my position, all of the problems listen in this video are a symptom of late-stage capitalism in which finite resources are being depleted and thus the capitalist class that owns all the wealth are doing everything in their power to keep gaining more power and wealth while benefiting from the fall out & keep their profits coming. They don't want to hire a person with a disability because American's With Disabilities Act-- it's too easy to be sued. All of this regulation hurts the people it's meant to help.

I felt that something should and would happen before that. Trump has been so confident with statements like "We caught them all" and there is the issue of the 200,000 sealed indictments against... who?

genuine question. I'm a hard-core environmentalist (which shouldn't be a left v. right issue, rather an issue that should concern us as animals living on this planet), so to me the question seems obvious.
By banning the Keystone pipeline the only thing it does is force us to import more oil from the Middle East and reduce our energy independence. We are going to use the same amount of petroleum, it will ejust be coming from somewhere else. Banning fracking does not equal clean energy.
It is actually more harmful on the environment considering the pollution from the transportation of getting it here through overseas vessels and railroad distribution in the US. It also cuts 50K American jobs at the same time. It reduces the amount of money the government can make on income taxes, and increases gov spending on unemployment.
Plus, it pollutes much more getting it here overseas on tankers, and we risk oil spills in the ocean as these tankers are moving it. It's safer and much less risky from an environmental perspective to use the pipeline, it keeps energy-related jobs in North America, and it keeps fuel costs lower for everyone.
It's kind of like people who are all-in for electric cars, but both Elon Musk and Toyota have said that there is no way the electric grid could support an all-electric car fleet. That energy still has to come from somewhere:

Energy will be so dirt cheap that everybody will get access, and it will be so dirt cheap and abundant that any pollution can be reversed, any nuclear waste can be transmuted or shot into the sun.
We've already succeeded in creating organisms that feed on plastics. So even before nuclear fusion we'd be able to significantly reverse pollution.
Obviously there'll be new problems with the above, but that's how life works. Problems are solved and the solutions create new problems. That's what makes life so fantastic, diverse and abundant.
With the above considered the main objective is now to accelerate technological and scientific progress.
This is done through the strongest imaginable economy, which is achieved through free markets and decentralization. That is in perfect alignment with the process of life, which is the most intricate, complex and efficient process we have ever and will ever identify.
Anytime the government steps in and centralizes efforts you now have a degeneracy of life. Imagine cutting off the land from water, or putting a massive barrier between planet and sky.

Products, services, residences, foods, technology, entertainment, etc.
Collectivism shuts down the free nature of commerce. It puts bureaucrats in front of choice, and it shuts down innovation. Using the state to distribute wealth is not only theft, it does nothing to aid in individual freedom and choice. Most importantly, it gives entirely too much power to legislators, and part of the success of America is that the state has not ruled the lives of the population. I don't know about you, but I don't really trust bureaucrats, and certainly not to distribute currency, food, or other basic needs.
Moreover, we are going through a phase of monetary theory; cash is being printed and debt is escalating into the trillions. This should highlight how irresponsible politicians are with your money. They spend way beyond what they collect each year. On one hand, they could continue to just spend indefinitely and give you cash forever; on the other, the value of the dollar will continue to shrink. As the debt continues to climb, just remember: it's your money and your children's children's children's money that will have to pay it all back. We used to care about budgetary choices, but now bureaucrats seem to spend at their leisure and rather inconsequentially.
One thing that surprises me about the modern progressive is their virtually unlimited trust in state actors to spend intelligently and treat the population fairly. They also seem to forget that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Why on earth would you want any system that gives the state such a broad range of power when there are literally both historical and modern examples of this failure? And don't point to the Nordic countries: by their own admission, they are not Socialist societies; they are indeed free market systems with large safety nets. Moreover, they pay for it to the tune of about 60 cents on every dollar earned.
I used to be a safety net kind of Democrat until I realized the progressives weren't going to be happy until everything was handed to the state.
