I've always thought he was our modern day equivalent of Einstein and a brilliant figure who was working to save humanity. Years ago, talked about filtering all the ideas in his head down to the five most important things that could help the human race. And now he has companies working on each of those five things. I've always told my kids that he was a great man, and even someone to look up to even though I generally caution against looking up to anyone.

I also think being permanently connect to the internet is a bad idea. Humans are so damn inquisitive that they would more than likely become extreme introverts and over time we would lose the things that make us uniquely human. Case in point, empathy. The internet/social media has already greatly hindered our ability to be face to face with someone when we communicate and by doing so it greatly reduces our ability to develop empathy for someone who holds a completely different point of view than our own. I think that’s a large part of why we see so much ugliness in comment sections/text messages etc..
But on the other side of that I can see great benefits in being able to imprint memories. One of the biggest obstacles I see is how that technology would be divvied out. It seems to me it would have to be open source for it to be beneficial to all. As far as being lazy goes I think it would be about what you did with that knowledge to determine laziness. Also, more than likely we would see many more people excel in their fields because they would have been able to try many things out that normally would have been time prohibiting to achieve the education to work in that filed. That means we would probably see a paradigm shift from looking at people’s education to looking at people’s aptitude’s. So it might actually cause productivity to skyrocket and in effect cause people to be less lazy because they are now being judged on what they do with their knowledge and less on just having the knowledge.
