Without power, we will likely not make it much longer. Below freezing temps inside and outside, dead animals, livestock, and humans are piling up. It's getting to be very hard to "trust" anyone or anything any longer.

This makes me so angry. Where the fuck are the Red Cross, and FEMA, and the stadiums and community centers being used as warming centers?
That's because if Biden can, he would surely make sure there's no help until later
Accepting government handouts is the first step to accepting socialism.
A federal government that hands out regular and conditional dividends makes a population subservient to them (the Alaska oil dividend is different because it's unconditional).
A federal government that helps out its citizens when they are under the immediate threat of external, internal, or natural forces is exactly the type of federal government the founders intended when they wrote the original Constitution.
Amen!!
Sounds like something the left would shill to encourage red state deaths. Life-saving measures in an emergency are not govt handouts. The British claimed that the Irish during the potato famine were too proud to take food from them. Whether or not that is true, a million of them died.
Already here. They are going to cancel Student Debt if you take the 'vax'.
Prove it.
Oh my gosh, I know it's cliché but I have literally been praying for Texas nonstop. I hope you all get relief and soon.
Still waiting on prayers to heat homes. Nothing so far. Maybe you're doing it wrong? Try a different god, let's see if that does the trick...
Well what more can I do at this point besides empathize and pray? Oh, I could call you a dick...there's that, I guess.
Lots of one or two month dick accounts here and on td. Only here to lower morale.
It's funny. We make fun of the lefties for virtue signaling but everyone here pretends that "I'm praying for whatever" is any different.
But yes, I was being a dick. I should have taken it as "wishing you good luck". My mistake, so many people seem to think prayer actually does something. I have no reason to think you're that foolish!
(hug) I pray for relief.
I am so very sorry. Praying for you.
I am not in a position to uproot and haul ass to Texas with a ton of ginnys. That being said, how can we help?
We need the natural gas and electricity turned back on, and left on long enough to do some good. These 17 minutes of power then blacked out again for 30 mins-10 hours does us no good, it's not enough time to even warm a single room back up.
I don’t know about individual residences, but I can tell you that Pioneer is out in the Permian Basin trying to get the natural gas back. My husband has been out the past two days in freezing temperatures getting the wells to start back up in order to get the gas to Targa. Part of the problem was trying to find a refinery that will take the barrels of oil that come up with the gas.
So sorry you are still stuck. How awful. What area? Im in Hill Country myself.
S.E. of Hell(Austin) about 30 miles
Im on the flip side. 35 m SW of Asstown out 71.
If you could manage the roads you are welcome here. Seriously. Ive been on the receiving end of the kindness of strangers enough to pay it fwd when I can. Nothing fancy but we have heat and water.
Hopefully it will warm up a bit tomorrow. My prayers are with you and your family.
Thank You Fren! We FINALLY have power now. But I truly appreciate the offer.
The plan is that this is to be remembered for generations, and never be allowed to happen again. Only mass death will do that, perhaps to the precipice of mass extinction. I hope it is not you.
Red Cross is busy with blood and human trafficking, FEMA is busy setting up for 'quarantine' of vaccine deniers and Trump supporters, and the FBI is busy tracking down Q followers.
Only at the precipice...
If you're in Texas and you expect the government to come save you after a natural disasters instead of working to build community and be prepared to do your part, you're doing it wrong. I live in north austin and went without power for two days before driving my ass to somewhere warmer.
These are exactly the times when self responsibility and preparedness is most vital.
My girlfriend and I had to pull frozen branches off of trees to burn in the apartment fireplace to keep the place about 50°
Used a Coleman camp stove on my balcony to cook bacon in the morning.
I think the problem is more about natural gas pipes freezing. We never get this kind of weather so we didn't winterize everything.
Where are you Barbarian?
Rural area, S.E. of Austin about 30 miles.
I will simply pray YOU never experience what we had to go through, otherwise you might be forced to face reality and might have to have sympathy or at least empathy for someone besides yourself., ffs!
Man...
It's not just Texas. Why are all these Texans bitching and whining?
This is a good part of the country. Many more places WAY colder than Texas, and without power.
Because our homes are not built for such weather extremes! Our roads are built to shed water, so they become crowned death traps to drive on. Bring your ass down here and lets see how tough you are! I bet your one of those who cries when the heat gets above 80 degrees in the summer! How about you STFU you POS!
Yes, he was being a jerk but don't let anyone trigger you into feeling more stress and anger. Doesn't do anything but harm you.
Are the roads drivable near you?
Not yet, only around the major cities and the interstates, but thankfully we are forecast to get up to 37 today, so there is a chance for some thawing.
Before casting gsy shade, im right in the fucking MIDDLE of the cold blob.
I was out, in NEGATIVE 8 degrees 2 days ago splitting frozen solid hickory to heat the house.
And before moving here, i lived my entire life in CA.
I worked outside every year in 100+ as a carpenter.
You don't know me personally, or how much of a badass i am.
Gtfo with that projection
Did you stop to think most folks in Texas don't have fireplaces? I doubt it, but since your such a"bad ass", maybe you can protect the millions of people in danger all by yourself. We live months on end above a hundred degrees every single year. That doesn't make someone a bad ass!
Bully for you. Try not being a dickhole in the future.
I moved to Texas from North Idaho. I have never been as cold as I was this week. The houses are not built for the cold here. We had wood and a fireplace but it's more decorative. We were prepared but it was still horrible. I kept asking myself how this happened. We trusted the idiots who said it would be at the very worst rolling blackouts. Those people lied!! My power was off for 4 days in below freezing temperatures.
I am glad you are still with us. I tried to explain this same thing and received a lot of BS comments about how we are being "whiners". Maybe Inuits can survive for 100+ hours of below freezing and close to 0 degree temps, but most of the rest of us can't. Thank GOD we finally have power back on.
Maybe we could try a little kindness and compassion? I don't think anyone is trying to hog the spotlight of suffering. TX just isn't prepared bc this is very abnormal weather for us.
I feel terrible for TX. I truly do not understand the hate towards TX. I lived in New England and this shit happened all the time.....but that was the climate, we knew that so we were generally prepared. This weather is NOT typical for TX and even if it were, many people have no power and are freezing and that alone deserves kindness and compassion. I'm praying for all of you. Those of you bashing TX, I hope you are never in a similar situation.
Every one in this weather needs compassion is my point.
Texas is acting like blm.
Im saying ALL lives matter.
Agreed that we all need compassion and all lives matter. Yes. 100%.
That said, I dunno about politicians but I haven't seen evidence of any TEXANS whining for special treatment. Yes, this is more of a shock to us bc we NEVER get snow/ice storms like this. And many are panicking like deer in the headlights. But I dont think we are being whiny. Folks are just scared.
And when you go comparing us to BLM, well... them’s fighting words, no doubt.
We need more peace and love, patriot. This is a testing time. Let us weather it together with compassion for all.
The reason I said that is due to a FLOOD of texas threads sliding the board. No other state.
When you see that, its usually points to one thing. Shills. (normally)
But regardless, I feel like I have made a very valid point. Many people are suffering. But its only Texas posts.
My state has been losing power through this whole thing. There are trailer parks every where. Many very poor people. No insulation. thin walls.
So , yes, when I see the board slided by all these texas posts, it really makes me wonder. If I saw an equal amount of posts and threads with other states, I wouldnt say shit. Because that makes logical sense. Its been sub zero with -15 to -18 windchill here for about a week straight.
Think about those people in the trailers, especially if they lost power.
Fair point. My guess is that there is an agenda here behind the push highlighting Texas. Possibly bc we have our own grid and use much solar/wind. Unsure of who is behind it and the message is not yet clear.
Finally.... someone else gets my point.
Thank you!
Texas getting weather like this is equivalent to Kansas getting a cat-5 hurricane.
The state's infrastructure isn't built to handle what they are experiencing.
You're attacking Texans for "whining", but if your state somehow got a hurricane, you'd be "whining" just as much.
Stop being a DICK.
No, thats not at all an equal comparison.
No infrastructure is built to handle deep freezes like that.
I live in Missouri where it was sub zero for about a week straight.
We got warnings from our electric company that it might shut down too.
Our houses are wrapped in fucking plastic siding. Most people out here live in TRAILERS, with thin, almost uninsulated walls.
We cut down trees. Split wood. Make fire. Use blankets. Dress in several layers of clothing. Etc.
I thought Texans were stronger than this. This freeze isnt discriminating by borders of states. Infrastructure isnt different between Texas and your neighbors, aside from more trailers in the poorer states.
My simple point is, many other people are suffering BIGLY and I am ONLY seeing texans in here bitching.
If you think that once you cross out of your state into your neighboring states that everyone has log cabons, fire places, cords of wood stacked and generators, your mistaken.
Yes, you're 100% correct. You're awesome in every way, you're strong, brave, and oh-so-intelligent.
Texans are dumbass bumpkins who whine and complain way too much.
If only all Texans were clones of you, oh most high and holy god of self-sufficiency.
I prostrate myself before you in hopes of simply touching the hem of your robes as you walk by.
Yeah, smart ass. That's exactly what i meant. You got me.
Your handle says it all. Youre a glow fag.
'Splended Great' aka pompeiusmagnus
Put yourself on that pedistool and glow. Im getting a sun tan from your magnificence.
Ah yes, continue attacking me! Your hatred makes me stronger.
Of course, you could just write, "Hey everyone, I was a dick for calling Texans weak. I'm sorry you guys had to go through that - hopefully things will get better soon!"
And that would make everything better - anons are really quite forgiving.
But no, not you - your narcissism prevents you from admitting that what you wrote was a total dick move. You're incapable of even considering that MAYBE you were being a dick. No - it's not you... it's everyone else misunderstanding you. You're as innocent as a newborn lamb, aren't you?
But you also had to make sure that EVERYONE knew that YOU were in the cold without power too, didn't you? Yet more narcissism... you're all about "me, me, me", and you couldn't stand to let Texans get the sympathy, could you?
I know that what I wrote here will probably make you mad, and you'll probably lash out at me again (funny how people love attacking truth-tellers, eh?), but I implore you to take this to heart:
Attacking people who are freezing to death is a prima facie DICK MOVE. Nothing you say will change that. Only your apology for being a dick will make things better.
You have my permission to copy and paste the apology I provided for you, if your addled brain is incapable of forming a cogent apology on its own.
Enjoy the free sun tan...
Because Texans are not prepared for this type of weather. The colder and more northern areas are.
That said, PRAY FOR EVERYONE!
I'll pray God grants you some empathy to others, because it's plain you only care about yourself!
You people don't read or comprehend. Im saying EVERY ONE in the middle of the country is affected. A lot are far worse off.
But only Texans are complaining.
Most of them have power you moron. We had to go go 7 straight days with a high of 17 and lows below zero. Our homes aren't built for such extremes. I'm willing to bet just one week of Texas summer heat would have you as dead as the many here who have frozen to death. You'd do good to think of the plight of others before you continue to flap your gums Mr. Bad Ass!
I used to fly out and work in Texas. Summer and winter.
Next?
And I've lived here almost 60 years, other than my time in the Army, so I think I know the state better than some slack jawed Kalifornian! GFY Shill!
Huh.
Funny how people get so but hurt and whiny here.
My statement stands.
I was standing up for the rest of the nation by point out the obvious fact that texas is being brought up CONSTANTLY here.
And... yall texans are bitching at a simple thing I pointed out. That youre whining.
And so far, I've heard NOTHING that to me justifies it, Bra-bruh.
And did ot occur to you, misses soldier, that maybe I left Kommiefornia because... its packed with twats?
Grow some thicker skin. Places like this are for girls like you. Go to Facebook or twatter if you want a safe space that's controlled.
It's easier than helping!
