Studies have always been out to support not wearing them. No double blind, peer-reviewed clinical trial supports wearing them. There is no science behind a piece of random cloth being a deadly-virus preventative. It's an illusion. It's a control muzzle, that's all. A compliance license.
Sadly, here in northwestern Oregon it is still close to impossible to enter any store without a mask. At places like Trader Joe's they literally block you from entering if you are not masked. They will actually stand in your way in the entrance. It's utterly disgusting.

But when you do have a contagious repository infection for real, masks will work to some extent. It isn't the size of the virus that is the only problem. Masks stop the droplets that an actual virus rides on. So if there really is a pandemic, masks will cut down transmission.

The volume is different, vape aerosol particles are 2.5um vs 10-20um for ejecta and nevermind that the point of the mask isn't to fully stop the droplets but to slow it down and reduce the spread.

Every study for the last 40 years has shown masks are useless against viruses. And specifically with regard to Corona, there were multiple studies months ago all showing cloth masks either slightly increase your risk of infection, or make a negligible increase to your chance of infection.
