I always liked LOL butter and usually bought it when available, even though it was more expensive than other brands. One of the reasons I liked to buy it was the pretty picture and the lovely Maiden (who used to be smaller and in a kneeling position). I stopped buying it when they took the Indian Maiden away and I will never buy it again.

It really kills me as a lot of these "mascots" or whatever you want to call them were actually quite positive, and rather than evolve the imagery with the times, they removed a people from our visual landscape who weren't frequently shown to begin with.

Wow! I’m not entirely sure what kind of responses I thought I would see when I clicked on this thread, but I’m pretty sure this wasn’t one of them.
And today I learned something new.
What these idiots don't understand is these mascots are positive ambassadors to people who hardly ever mix with people of these demographic groups. A beautiful graceful Indian Maiden, a stately elderly Black lady, and a charming elderly Black man are good images to show. Now all they see of these groups are screaming idiots spewing hate.
I sometimes do a little digging on who the ad agency is on some of these companies. Some of the real offenders use the same company, and those companies usually have a political bias and agenda.
Just as there are only 6 companies that control 90% of all forms of media, there are only 5 advertising agencies that do about 80% of the ads.

Years ago they took the golliwog off of golliwog jam ("jelly" to Americans). Then they banned the word altogether. It was even dangerous to utter "oh, golly!"
No idea why. To me, as a child in the UK, a "golliwog" was simply a cuddly toy with wooley black hair. (It was my favourite doll.)
