It's a seller's market right now. Why wouldn't they? Wealthy people use high-end real estate as investment properties that they can enjoy. They buy it, use it now and then while it appreciates in value at a greater rate than normal real estate, then cash out when the time is right. Well.. the time is right.

Telluride is scenic and all that, but It's remote. Unless you live to ski there's more outdoor fun in milder climates and better shopping. Also the altitude is wearing for many. I think It's a fad that would be tiresome.
