The most important is you're taking ENOUGH vitamin D. ideally you get your blood tested to see where you're at. Your D level is accumulative, meaning you got to build it up (it stores in the fat). As opposed to C which goes in and out of the body quickly. Anyhow, you have to figure out and massage the amount of Vitamin D you supplement with in order to raise your body up to that wonderful 50-90 range.
All that being said, without testing your individual needs, I figure 10,000 IU / day is a safe amount to get you out of the Covid death danger zone, while no way puts you in danger of too much Vitamin D to become a calcium problem.
Kid? I should have added a caveat. I was assuming adult when I said 10,000 IU.
My Naturopathic doctor said when you are deficient and trying to load up fast, that you can do half your body weight (X1,000) in IU for 3 days.... Like if your kid is 70 lbs, than you can do a maximum of 35,000 IU for 3 days straight, and then back off to a lower daily amount. (Maybe only do like 2,000 IU for a 70 lb child.
I have a 4-1/2 year old, and I give her 800 IU/ day, via chewy smarty pants multi vitamin.
before I did this with her, she'd get a cold and it would drag on for a week or so. Now she'll get a rare cold, but when she has, she has powered through it in 24-36 hours. The change is impressive.
Interesting because wheat came back as my highest food sensitivity on one of those blood tests. Maybe the lower my D is the higher the symptoms of my problem with wheat. so, if i raise my D, then less problem with the wheat.
That's very good advice - I was taking 10,000 IU per day, and found out with a blood test that I was still deficient! I upped it to 15K per day, but I have to go back to find out if that did the trick or if there's some reason I'm not absorbing it.
Dr. Rhonda Patrick has a rule of thumb. each 1,000 additional Vit D = 5 ng/ml. The RDAs are scams. And all the MSM vit D toxicity scare articles are criminal.
Gut health is very important - do you ever read draxe.com? He has a LOT of insight about gut health, lots of good health info on that site. I have not tried anything I learned from him that didn't work.
before supplementing, I was testing at about 16 level. It took me months at 5,000 IU and then 10,000, and now 12,000 IU/day and my last test had me at 59!! it's amazing the health difference in all aspects of my health. Even with my GI tract. I always used to feel like I could be headed toward Crohn's, colon cancer, or some food alergies, something with my frequent runs to the bathroom, what did i eat? etc.. I even felt like I felt my intestines twitching at night while laid in bed. All that is gone now! My bm's are the way they should be. I don't have to fruitlessly watch what I eat, etc..
I have done this for about 5 years. Last test 2 yrs ago was 49. I never feel good , but that goes with my age and the many injuries I've had along the way, but I would probably feel a lot worse without. Have not gotten a "Cold" or "the flu" for years. Do not even say the word vaccination around me . You will be missing a head which I have just bitten off. I tell everyone D3 and even offer to buy them some. I've had takers, but you can only lead a horse to water...

That's what Dr. Lee Merrick said. You can get your Vit D checked through DHA labs for $35.
My kid was at a level of 8! She's doing the loading dose once a week, but I'm throwing another 5-10k on top of it.

In parts of N.E. England, the term of endearment "our kid" or "my kid" refers to one's wife.

She's almost 18, so she's doing adult doses.
If you abstain from wheat in any form...then your Vit D3 levels will rise like magic when you supplement.

Agreed 100%
I'm 45. 180 lbs. taking 12,000 IU/day. last test was 59 ng/ml. (I started at 16 when covid hit).
my wife is 40. 120 lbs. taking 5,000 IU/day. her last test was 66 ng/ml.
So, that's quite a difference for 60 lbs and 5 years, so I've also attributed it to perhaps she has better gut health and absorbs it better than me.

I take 10,000 daily and up it if I feel something going on.

What a scam is being run on the people.
