AOC is young and physically attractive, but that's not why she's ridiculed here. Trump is wealthy and was born that way, and he likes The Village People, but that's not why we rally around him. Having an identity means there's a part of the identity politics environment that faces you, not that it owns you. Or that we need to pay attention.
If AOC was so smart she would have come up with something better than the green new deal, and I think she looks like a horse or a jackass with those giant teeth of hers.

She is no smarter, more awake, more sarcastic or more funny than literally anyone in the MAGA crowd. She gets paraded around because she makes obvious claims daily? Things that are NEVER new to us? No, she gets paraded around because she's black. Same reason the GOP sent Tim Scott up there. Was Tim Scott probably more necessary, yes, but it's important we don't lose sight of our own use of the race game. And if we are going to be justified in using the race game, it's about damn time we had a few more discussions.

To be fair, I also disagree with her portrayal of athletes in this post. Most of them worked extremely hard to get there, are very capable individuals, and are willing to work just as hard for other causes. And thankfully most are not racist shills. As far as Candace is concerned, she has a platform which is obviously at least partly because she's black. But if being black were the only reason, there's a ton of other black women who don't have her platform and might explain why Candace has earned it. So far she uses it well and releases fairly decent soundbites. Kim Klacick seems more measured. Both are infinitely better than Stacey Abrams. Point is, there's no point in going down that road. Attack her and her supporters for what she says and how she acts, but it's silly to accuse people here of worshipping her out of either worship or guilt.
It is worship. And I will criticize it every step of the way. We act like we don't virtue signal when in reality we do, we just justify it in different ways. You're absolutely right, we should judge people on their work and what they offer to the community. Which is exactly why I made the comment.
