About a year late for him but his record is for sure good and on our side... he should have been standing up long ago though!

Also, Paul was one of 11 Republicans in 2019 to vote against Trump's demand for "emergency border funding".
Although voting against the border wall funding was angering, I will never forget his treachery when he voted to certify the fraudulent election results.
Yeah but he votes against almost all funding. If all the republicans voted like rand, we would have much fewer of these problems to begin with. It would be angering to vote for funding like a typical republican, but then not vote for border funding.
True, but he's first and foremost a politician. Based on his Obama year voting record specifically his push for increasing our defense spending, I believe he's an opportunistic hypocrite.
Only when it suits him. In 2011, shortly after being elected, Paul proposed a budget which specified $542 billion in defense spending. In 2015, he called for a defense budget of $697 billion to use overseas. The "muh principles" excuse doesn't hold water. I agree, taxation is theft. If we ended welfare and all the taxpayer funded hand outs illegals are given we wouldn't need a border wall because the incentive to come here for most of them would be gone. However, Rand Paul is either a hypocrite or has changed his ways. Either way, my trust in him is rather short.
I have seen plenty of issues with Rand Paul, such as him endorsing Romney or the time he railed on the obviously fake January 6 "storming" of the capitol, but this example you have given does not seem particularly solid. I would like to hear an example of him voting for a spending bill that was clearly wrong from the ground up. In this case, it's not obvious what budget he should have called for. He could have gone with 542 billion again. But if he could have done that, then why not 500 billion or even 100 billion? So am not convinced.
However, I admit that I know absolutely nothing about this kind of stuff and for all I know 697 billion could be completely obviously unreasonable.
My point is he calls for hundreds of billions of dollars to be spent on our military overseas, but when asked to approve 1.73 billion for Trump's border wall he voted against it. People make excuses for him because he's the "libertarian" and he has "principals" about spending. I'm just pointing out his hypocrisy.
I agree on your immigration point (remove incentive to come for gimmes) but, realistically, if we ended welfare funding cold-turkey, we would have favelas develop as in Brazil. Looting/theft would be a regular occurrence in the residential areas because people will do anything to feed themselves. Couldn't leave your family at home to go work for fear that they would be robbed while you are away. Not enough jobs out there to fully employ all on the dole right now. In my little county, 51% of the people are on some kind of govt assistance. We would come to blows, I feel certain.
Welfare needs reformed - I suggest that the US pay for everybody's first child, regardless of your income. Gives everybody a fair chance to have a family if they want, but doesn't reward multiple births just to grab additional checks for your family. If you know you aren't going to have an extra income for the next baby, you might spend your money on Birth control instead of having to start funding diapers, formula, etc. The disability system needs dramatically reformed as well. There are sedentary jobs that many of the disabled can perform to work around many physical disabilities. Another program that needs reformed is the investment incentives offered to foreign-citizens to come start up in the US. Loan to Grant programs, tax deferrals/waivers for their businesses, etc. If that's offered to some, it should be offered to all, incl US citizens.

Once these guys get into office, they have no plans to return to private sector. Their thinking/decision making is all skewed towards their next re-election. Can't blame them, the system is designed like that. Term Limits is the answer.
He led the senate in opposition to the fraud impeachment. Granted, Rand does make some odd/bad decisions that I don't agree with at times, but at least when he does that he is doing it according to his genuine opinions regarding constitutional law, and govt. authority. His Libertarian party dad rubs off on him a little bit too much sometimes, but unlike RINOs, Rand will actually take action to back what he says.
Agreed, Ron and Rand have always been my favorite until Trump came along of course, however, with COVID I didn't see Rand do anything, why all of a sudden did he ask Fauci about the "gain of function" when we all knew it came out of Wuhan and it was funded by the US from the beginning? I knew, at least, and a lot of other people did, but we went along with this charade for over a year before finally holding the "scientists" accountable? I was very angry for a while about the lack of leadership we experienced out of everybody for a whole year and some months.
I still prefer Rand to Trump (on paper). Trump basically has to be soft in certain areas for the sake of optics (i.e. Federal Reserve, big government spending, foreign intervention), where rand is a million times more on point. Looking into Q was the main thing that really made me want to vote trump.
Why support someone who specifically voted to allow Biden to steal the election? He’s as bad as the rest, maybe worse because he pretends to be a true conservative type to fool the voters.
I was really only insulted by all that bullshit about the "attack on the capitol" from his speech on why he wouldn't vote to decertify. But other than that I don't really blame him. He didn't hesitate to call out the fraud and was very vocal about it. And it's incredibly obvious that it sets a terrible precedent for the federal government to decertify a locally certified election. If rand clearly sells out then I will not hesitate to call him out, but he has obviously not done so and is record is soooooo clean. Trump, on the other hand, is good and very genuine, but not a "true conservative".

Rand and the others should have made these two decisions independently, not using one (the certification vote) to rectify another (the 'insurrection' by whomever). (Don't jump on me about Jan 6th - it was a pelosi planned event, and a trap for DS. More to come out on that, I'm sure.)

That's not entirely accurate. He tried to convince the Senate to send the results from the states back to the state legislatures, (which would have been the Constitutional thing to do) but they would not. I don't like the results, but he is standing on his states' rights principles and President Trump understands this. There has been no falling out between President Trump and Senator Paul, as there was between PT and, for example, VP Pence.
The reason doesn’t matter. The fact is you support Trump and vote for him, or you support the deep state and vote against him. Rand Paul votes against him.
Actually it does. The Rules of Congress require a House Member and a Senate member to both agree. Apparently those who voted for him in the Senate had the advantage of a supporting House member from their state. Sen. Paul didn't.
The Senate was the last line of defense for stopping a fraudulent election. Rand (who I would like to like) accepted knowingly false results. States Rights is a great argument right up until the point that the politicians in those states were bought and paid for, and cheated on the election in a blatant and obvious manner. Remember, the entire senate was briefed on the military intel - and knew exactly what went on. They KNEW.
The Senators who certified the fraudulent election ignored their duty and their oath to protect our right to vote and to protect the Constitution - all with their own set of excuses.

The last line of defense, after Sen. Paul proposed sending it back to the states and that failed, was Pence. VP Pence was the kingpin deal maker. Read his defense on twitter, and recognize that he has already faced three threats on his life, and one on his wife's!
He believed it would set a bad precedent to remove the rights of states to certify elections, and the evidence of fraud was not up for debate in the Senate. (Nor was sending it back to the states, nor did he have a House member willing to pair up with him to object , any one of these would have been a way to accomplish the goal of denying certification Constitutionally.) The Tenth Amendment had already taken enough hits from prior presidents.

It was the state legislatures' responsibility to reclaim their rights and remove if necessary the governors involved, or secretaries of state.

Good point. The point is to affirm the rule of law. Sen. Paul was concerned about the precedent (Could Congress or a federal agency then dictate to the states how elections are run? e.g. Could the feds ban voter ID rules, in person voting...counting on Election Day alone) that would be set if they chose to decertify and the lack of a House member to support his proposal of sending the certification back to the states' legislatures limited his options because of Congressional rules in relation to elections.
Your "Hero" punted on voter fraud and agreed to certify the fraudulent EC votes under some bullshit guise of "state rights." We're lucky his controlled opposition and strongly-worded pageantry amounted to anything with this.

This^, Senator Paul believed there were issues, but requested the Senate deal with it Constitutionally and send it back to the states. They would not do it, and the only one with the real power to send it back otherwise was Pence, who proved to be a traitor. Senator Paul also is a big states' rights advocate, so it would have been a violation of principle (both states' rights and the principle of innocent until proven guilty) to not vote to certify. Remember, Trump has never been in doubt of Dr. Paul, and they never had a falling out.
