They should also re-record the whistleblowers testimony with other actors. The voice altering does very little to thwart identification. You can still tell their accent, the way they roll certain letters, inflection.
Has anything ever happened to anyone who’s name was leaked as a Facebook employee? How are they put at risk? People advertise the company they work for on LinkedIn, etc.. What are they afraid of happening?
They are concerned that if people find out that specific employees at the company are complicit in doing unethical things, they might be targeted for retaliation in public. Though they probably aren’t actually concerned, just “concerned”, which is how they publicly justify firing all potential whistleblowers.
