The exemption goes through HR and goes nowhere else, completely separate from his tenure file and committee.
I also work at an east coast uni who is mandating injections, I’m just moving all my courses to remote since they can only try to force it on folks on campus.
Quote from the Nuremberg Code Article 6. They are academic and should enjoy history. Give them a history lesson. Since all Covid vaccines are EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) they are not mandatory. Making them so, is a violation of said code and would come under the heading of Crimes Against Humanity in ICC (International Criminal Court). Lawyers and firms will help people fight back. Some times a threatening letter will suffice. Too many sheep just give in and that’s why the bullies take over.
They look for any excuse to deny tenure. I'd contact America's Frontline Doctors. You'd be a notable enough case you could get in direct contact with a physician.
We really need to attack this collectively, with a class action. I don't know how to tell what law firm could really make a difference. I am disgusted.
Yes, this is the issue. My husband will be required to wear a mask as well and also be tested constantly. His colleagues are also all insane and think people who don't get the experimental jab are "parasites on society" so visibly not getting it will ruin his chances at tenure.
So much is happening so quickly- I am going to be looking for information on class action lawsuits. This is completely and unequivocally illegal. I just realized I don't know how to spell unequivocally. :)
It's truly appalling. It's also shocking they are pushing this NOW just after all the evidence has come out about how bad these vaccines have been for heart inflammation, etc. It's funny, my husband found out today as well about the vaccine mandate. We have noticed that the main stream universities work like guilds - they tend to mandate things/make decisions in lockstep to protect each other.
Yep, fun fact no one considered closing down anything until all the colleges suddenly chose to close up shop last year all in the same week. Harvard was the first and everyone else fell in line.
He graduates this year, and is at arguably the toughest military school in the country (not an academy). He's worked his ass off to get this far. Also, this is a coordinated thing- I would probably be hard pressed to find a college not doing it. This needs to be fought everywhere at the same time- not by one person at a time. That's my opinion. I am just starting to research options.
I don't know what he teaches, but he should look into small liberal arts colleges. While the locations can be more remote, the goal is more often the complete education and intellectual development of the individual. More conservative campuses.
He could tutor online with his credentials and make tons of money freelancing. There's one option.
If he's smart and decent with computers, he could study networking and other certifications during his downtime and transition into tech as well. Plenty of money to be made in that field as long as you're willing to put the work in.
If I though my safety was in danger, I wouldn't be waiting around for handouts. Look at what hapens to college professors throughout modern history when things shake up.
That doesn't really answer the question. What's the real problem here? You need the money? He loves the job and is emotionally attached?
These are the consequences of making poor decisions in his youth. Either take the poison and stay, or refuse and face the possibility of having to find another university or re-skill. These people don't fuck around. Once they find out he doesn't tow the Marxist line they will ruin his career anyway.
We've been thinking about this too. He has years till he comes up for tenure. Even though he will possibly be ostracized for seeking a legal or medical exemption he still will have years of income where it will be very hard to fire him.
I'm sorry but sometimes you have to make hard choices.. and then have faith that doing the right thing is the hardest, scariest thing to do.
I walked into my department heads office and said "if your going to require this vaccine, I'm resigning". I could use both the medical and religious exemption but I prefer the TRUTH....just not going to do it, period!
I trust in God's will and have blind faith and obedience to His will. If I end up homeless....He will provide (I did, He has)....If I have no job....He will provide (lost job, got a better one)....was it easy? NO...but life isn't easy. I stood on the promise God made to see me through...I still stand there because of FAITH...the last 4 months have not been easy but we are not promised easy....
You can have medical, religious, AND philosophical exemptions. I for one claim philosophical exemption because this is is still experimental and I want to sit back and watch the others develop health problems, or not. As for the religious you may want to do a little research but I am seriously thinking about converting to Islam because it appears to be the one religion they are afraid to fuck with. Medical.....? Find a friend that is sympathetic or a friend and get him a hall pass for being prone to anaphylaxis from previous flu shots or something like that. Be covered by all 3!!
Unfortunately many of these academics are frothing at the mouth insane. We were at the virtual meeting where they discussed whether or not vaccines should be mandated and everyone kept calling for a ban of religious exemptions even after the administrator kept repeating (regretfully) that they were legally required.
No offense, but sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe, even your user name tells me this may be a problem for you. I think faith is what you are looking for. I don't know your situation, but I do know when one door closes another opens.
And sometimes the Universe puts us in a situation where we have to get off the pot and act in our own behalf. Who knows, this could end up being the turning point that starts him in a different direction on a much happier path.
He doesn't have tenure yet so we are worried about religious discrimination. They are all insane.
The exemption goes through HR and goes nowhere else, completely separate from his tenure file and committee.
I also work at an east coast uni who is mandating injections, I’m just moving all my courses to remote since they can only try to force it on folks on campus.
They are notifying the chairs at my husband's uni. He's also teaching remote in fall but will probably have to come in for faculty meetings.
Send this to his bosses, HR and perhaps other employees:

Keep in mind, they may target you for sharing info.
We are worried it would be hard to prove. They would say it was something else. These people are truly cra cra.
This is exactly what we are worried about. They are VERY hostile to religious exemptions. We are worried he will be denied tenure if we go that route.
Your comment history is very negative. Might be time to take a minute and reflect.
Your pessimistic view of my optimism is the epitomy of division. Clown me all you want. Think mirror.
Failing that, sign at the local Christian Science church as a member.
The last time humans messed with there DNA the Lord flooded the world. No way I take it.
I have seen the fire and brimstone....I am still upset, though resolved to God's will...this vision truly shook me. It's horrible....
Blessings
Yeppers!

Medical exemptions require no explanation. HIPAA
I think this is the way to go if we can swing it. We currently don't see a Dr or anything so we'd have to find one.
You need to ask around. Are there any doctors who were writing medical mask exemptions for kids? Were there any doctors treating with HCQ?
I agree, I think this is the way to go. Thank you my fren.
You have what you need
My employer, a university is requiring extensive documentation from a doctor to get a medical exemption.
Lawyer up thru AFLD
These universities are out of control.

We were just notified that our son's college is requiring it today. I am beside myself. If course, he can do either exemption, but then would be required to wear a mask all year and be tested mercilessly. I found this: https://aapsonline.org/open-letter-from-physicians-to-universities-reverse-covid-vaccine-mandates/?fbclid=IwAR1PnNaDVwN2Iz-KEQnYoHO9k8sRswJwb96jkouCCCkGtF_wX2bY-hh1qvo

Yes, that is when we first noticed the guild effect.
Check this out. Also see the fb group Parents for Informed Consent. A lot of schools were added to the list at the top: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vQAAT-6WRbgqj7NtAHBbXlV9pWiKAX-22XDjI1dCjnKQ39rIffo1At84DAeM51y1KSXlIwk34mIV6iV/pub?urp=gmail_link

Colleges only understand money, why not tell them your son will go elsewhere?
He graduates this year, and is at arguably the toughest military school in the country (not an academy). He's worked his ass off to get this far. This might be a good time to get out of academia in general.
Yeah, he went into it when we were young and dumb liberals and now he's not qualified to do anything else.
I don't know what he teaches, but he should look into small liberal arts colleges. While the locations can be more remote, the goal is more often the complete education and intellectual development of the individual. More conservative campuses.

History shows anytime academia is thought to be the reason for the societies problems, it doesn't go well for the academics.
If I though my safety was in danger, I wouldn't be waiting around for handouts. Look at what hapens to college professors throughout modern history when things shake up.
Why would you want to continue working with people that want you dead?
He's not qualified to do anything else. He got his PhD when we were young and dumb and liberal.
That doesn't really answer the question. What's the real problem here? You need the money? He loves the job and is emotionally attached?

Toe the line, as in put your toes right up to the line.
I would suggest him replying he must decline due to immune system concerns. It's vague, legitimate and any additional info is a HIPA violation
You got lots of advice here. One I havent seen is this:
If he vaxes he could be dead within 2 years but collect his income for that time possibly tenured.
If he does not vax depending on his age now he could enjoy income for maybe 20 years, though less because not tenured, instead may teach on his own.
Bottom line is: How much is your husband's life worth?
We've been thinking about this too. He has years till he comes up for tenure. Even though he will possibly be ostracized for seeking a legal or medical exemption he still will have years of income where it will be very hard to fire him.

How can they require a experimental vaccine ?? Sound fishy to me.
Get a Dr note saying he is allergic to ingredients in shots. There is one ingredient that is the same for Pfizer and Modena.
You can have medical, religious, AND philosophical exemptions. I for one claim philosophical exemption because this is is still experimental and I want to sit back and watch the others develop health problems, or not. Dead is dead. With everything that's out re the vax, you'd have to be insane to take it.
WWJD.
Yes, this would tank his tenure case. They don't like Jesus.
You realize they're using this as a litmus test to weed out non-believers, yes?
Does he have a friend or mentor on the faculty? Sooner or later you either have to fight them or give up the ghost and move to a conservative college.
Unfortunately many of these academics are frothing at the mouth insane. We were at the virtual meeting where they discussed whether or not vaccines should be mandated and everyone kept calling for a ban of religious exemptions even after the administrator kept repeating (regretfully) that they were legally required.
My bad, I would rather have my name written in the book of life, We all have our own priorities though. Op said religious exemption were allowed.
They are allowed but I'm afraid the people who work in academia HATE Jesus. It's a sad time.
No offense, but sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe, even your user name tells me this may be a problem for you. I think faith is what you are looking for. I don't know your situation, but I do know when one door closes another opens.
