What is interesting to me about this article is that Section 230 protection was updated in 2018 so that they didn’t have protection against human trafficking claims. Nothing is coincidence.

As the gov't has been the biggest customer of FB, there is a very good chance the CIA, FBI, DHS, or NSA already knows about it.
They either didn't care, were in on it, or were saving it for a rainy day to save their skins.

It's about damned time. This is an important step as it sets up for higher courts to hear but there must be a demand that this case is as transparent as it is possible to keep the victims safe. Another tentacle of the kraken?

I'm hoping all social media gets shut down and never returns. Social media is the only part of the internet that has caused more harm than good.
The irony is "social" media is the moist dehumanizing communication out there. No direct contact with fellow humans, and total isolation. You only interact with a computer, really. A computer could be posting responses to someone's post, and the person doing the posts would react the same way. Fake book for fake people.
i used to think that; then i see things like on the ground vids in India proving what was being shown concurrently on TV MSM news stations was a flat out lie and I think going back to not having alt tech or alt news will just lead us back into more brainwashing.
We need social media like twitter to show us vids we would never see on MSM tv.

There are special interest sites that were a lot like that 15-20 years ago. Many people from every state were members, and a few dozen from around the world. Amazing how often "national news" stories would be debunked within hours or days by people on the ground and/or in the know. Often with pictures. Unfortunately, most of them have been bought up and "sanitized". Purely coincidental, right?
Couldn't agree more. Disgusting dopamine triggering trash software. All of it. The actual design for the use of this software and it's abuse of psychological vulnerabilities needs to be looked into and rightly punished too. The guys who helped make Facebook have admitted hating themselves for creating it because it was designed for addiction. Technology isn't the wild west anymore. If we're taxing cryptocurrency trades then we sure as hell can start identifying psychological abuse and manipulation that's been going on for 10 years before crypto even existed.
Here's to hoping decentralisation will help with this mess. But who knows. At least this is a step in the right direction.
