Sure, we had no reason to not believe it. I was half way up diamond head with my gf at the time. Most people started crying, trying to call loved ones, etc. The cell lines were tied up immediately.
Being in a volcano basin, I knew we'd never get down in time, and also that the rim would offer little protection at best, and that I'd rather go out with a great view, we continued up to the top.
It was eerie. Not a single plane or helicopter in the sky, all the boats were burning away from the island. We sat for a few minutes before getting another alert that it was a false alarm. Just kinda shrugged and took some more pictures and went about our day! By the time we got back down everything was back to normal like nothing had even happened.
